Bard or fighter... that's a crazy decision lol. Cant even wrap my mind around itRanger in roll the dice DnD games is bland and only seems to get interesting once you multi-class.
I'm thinking Bard or Fighter when I start playing.

My Oath of Vengeance paladin was certainly not a goody two-shoes. Unless you think The Punisher is a goody two-shoes? I basically played the Lolth-sworn drow version of that.I have a tank mindset for games so fighter works for me. Plus it branches out to spec the class the way I want to play.
I'm a shit mage. Barb is fun for a bit but is basically rage then bash/stab because they are too dumb to do anything else. Healers aren't fun. Screw those goody two shoes Palys. The steath/backstab Rouge dynamic is too much work (depending on the game it can be really wonky). Ranger is just a mage arrows instead of spells.
Then there is the Bard, where I can be my chaotic neutral self and get away with it, because it's really hard to fail rolls with their class perks and charisma base stat. It's easy mode for the noncombat part of the game.

Or maybe you could say he was a Batman who, instead of avoiding killing, avoids not killing.
I'm not sure whether I view that DM as a hero or villain, but I love the story.I've played with really strict DM with Paly oaths. It was a bit of forced roleplay but made things interesting when his powers didn't work because it wasn't meeting the terms and services of the oath. Same game where the cleric couldn't heal when the party went all murderhobo. That as the game where it was learned not to rule laywer a chill DM. The slow burn revenge he pulled with this was pretty epic.

I'm a huge fan of roleplay constraints like oaths. dogmas, and pacts, especially when the character chafes at them in some situations. I wish my regular DM would enforce them more frequently, honestly.
Yall are a bunch of nerds
I dig it.
I usually like that it's a little bit of Swiss army knife kind of thing. Ranged, but can melee, a little stealth, but you usually get a little heal or two type thing as well. For some reason it's just plhhtth in this game.Ranger in most DnD based games is a solid and super strong choice. But I agree... it can get a bit boring. Especially a ranged ranger.

Dunno. It's been 10 years since I've really been able to play a PC game and maybe my tastes have changed since then. My last PC build was a long time ago. Then I had overheating issues and stopped playing for a long time. Didn't have the money at the time to build a new one and then gaming wasn't a priority enough to spend the kind of coin I used to put into the PC's I'd build. Needed a new laptop anyways, so I got one that was good enough to play BG3 on til I could build a new desktop. I'm shocked that it's been doing great.
Also...I get that cleric isn't supposed to really be there for damage, but the one (probably doesn't matter, but trying to be as vague as I can for Wabit) in this game is a useless, mouth breathing piece of s***. She misses more often than she hits anything and honestly, her heals are weak enough that she almost seems not worth it. I can't tell you how many times I've blurted you, 'You f***ing asshole.' Would be nice if there was another option.
Whoa, whoa. There is another option, you can respec her into a Life domain cleric and she becomes awesome at healing, or War and she becomes awesome at killing. Personally, I kept her as Trickery domain but did modify her slightly to give her slight of hand proficiency because my party's rogue and I had a little falling out over consent.I usually like that it's a little bit of Swiss army knife kind of thing. Don't think it matters much. I went with DirectX since I know the product and am on a Windows PC. I did try Vulcan but I remember some kind of performance issue with it that went away with DirectX.Dumb question which should I play BG3 on DirectX or Vulcan? I don't know the difference between the 2 of them.

Wow, you must be in the early game then.still have the bug in my head.

As you've found, the game does not exactly follow DnD 5e rules. Potion drinking is a bonus action, Mage hand has some weird once-per-short-rest thing going on, etc.
I love that your desire to manage an inventory had unforeseen consequences. Strip down anything far enough, and you'll be surprised what kind of jank can occur. On a totally unrelated note, why haven't you given me access to stream your playthrough, yet?
This game is on my list purely because of the reviews I've read. I'm playing Suikoden II, but once it's done Clair Obscur is next up... which is saying something since I've been queuing up a second playthrough of BG3 and continuing my first playthrough of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Wow. Reviews have been great for this game, but even before the release i was excited for it. Super early in the game so far, but this feels like a GOTY winner (not a contender... winner). Everything is hitting. Interesting story (super somber and dark), fun combat, and a stellar soundtrack. Graphics out of combat or a cut scene leave a little to be desired, but not bad by any means.
Might be the first game I've really been invested in since Elden Ring. Hope the stealth Oblivion drop (f you Bethesda, should have remastered Morrowind) doesn't put this game in the shadows.

Goddamn RPGs are just too many hours,
If no one else chimes in, I'll take it. If literally anyone else does, give it to them, It'll be a couple years before I can play it.I bought one of the humble bundles I have an extra Frostpunk game key (Steam). Anyone want it?
