Finally finished Baldur's Gate 3. I think there may be some weirdness with the PS5 and hours played since I'm not sure if it counts the time where I left the console on or in rest mode, but clocked in at around ~140 hours. Kind of a bittersweet feeling...glad to finish but at the same time kind of sad for it to be over with.

I'll have to think about it for a second but it might be my favorite game of all time. Kind of depends on the timing and the genre if you're saying what the 'best' game ever is, but this is definitely the best game I've played in recent memory. I think BG3 and Sekiro are maybe my two favorites ever.

There are some minor things that got annoying, like managing inventory and weight (was more difficult to transfer items on console, guessing that's a lot easier on PC). I tried to do everything and I'm sure I still missed a few things. The ending was a little abrupt, I thought there might be a little more closure on certain things, but wonder if there will be DLC's at some point.

Also wish there wasn't a level cap so you could continue to get stronger/different abilities, but not a big deal.

Now finishing up Sea of Stars before eventually getting to Spiderman 2.

What class did you roll with?

Slayed my 2nd dragon today and finished exploring most of the Liurnia of the Lakes region except for the west side. I think ill roll into the Academy of Raya Lucaria tomorrow and tackle that legacy dungeon then finished exploring the west side of Liurnia of the Lakes.

Still going with a Faith/ Dex build and slightly taping into Arcane.

My main weapon is the Uchigatana Katana, with the Sacred blade Ash of War, which makes it scale fairly well with Faith, but could be better. Id like to eventually replace it but i have no idea what to replace it with. Im thinking maybe i should still use that Ash of War but change the affinity to keen, not sacred so it scales with Dex, think it changes it to a B scaling. But i do have more points into Faith than Dex. The whole Ash of War and affinity still doesnt makes a ton of sense to me but i think i got it down.

As for armor i just switched it up to armor that i think is cool looking. I got kinda sick of wearing armor that i didnt like or didnt look cool and wanted to go with the drip instead. Maybe if im in a hard boss fight where i keep getting stunned and such ill throw on some of the better armor that i have.

Still enjoying the game throughly. Already one of the best games ive ever played, id probably put it 2nd behind Hellblade. Im at 47 hours already and i havent even beat the 2nd main story boss yet lol but im having fun just exploring evey part of the map before i move on in the main story quest line.

I was a ranger. I always like to attach for big damage from far away. The way I ended up building kind of allowed me to get in close when needed too...there was a perk that allowed me to wear heavy armor which was pretty sweet. I didn't think there were a ton of amazing bows until I got one towards the end.

I tried to mix in everyone in the party as much as I could and brought in the person during their story missions of course but feel like I always ended up defaulting to Shadowheart, Gale and Karlach. I wanted to use Astarion more since he hit really hard with his sneak attacks but it was too repetitive with my guy.

Defeated Rennala today. The first stage of Rennalas fight i didnt like at all to be brutally honest, kinda thought it was stupid but then the 2nd stage came along and was wowed by it. really cool fight and boss arena. Think im heading towards Caelid next after i clear that keep to the north in Liurnia.

Games like this should be the norm for gamers in 2023 but it sadly isnt.

Love hearing the updates! Rennala first phase is definitely just a gimmick, 2nd phase was still pretty easy but super cool.

When you finish, I highly recommend watching the elden ring youtube series by RKG. It's currently in process, they should just be coming up to Rennala fight this week I think. Immensely entertaining and the 3 guys that do it are hilarious.

Is it a playthrough then?

Yes, but extremely well edited. They started years ago when they worked for IGN and have since broke off on their own. They've done all of the soulsborne series. I love then to death and regularly rewatch.
Cool beans. I'll sub now so i can remember.

Went through most of Caelid yesterday and the castle to the SE. Going to fight Radahn at some point today.

Still looking for a new weapon. Dunno if its because im bored of the Uchigatana Katana or what but id like to find something new. But to be honest im not really sure what im looking for in a weapon upgrade, Finally getting some of the cool dragon incantations like Agheels Flame and Smarags glinstone breath. My eyes look like a dragons now which is sick.

Radahn fight is my favorite of the game

Decided to buy NHL 24… erm I mean hip check 24. Not impressed so far, but the first game in the series I’ve bought in several years so what the heck.
Have the games changed for the better in the past 6 or so years? At some point I felt like I was playing nearly the same game every year.

Beat Radahn today. It was a cool fight and probably my favortie demigod fight but fight in general i still gotta lean towards the 2 dragons. Dunno where to go next as i dont remember any hints or anything like that.

One thing thats starting to annoy me a bit with the game is the speed of each enemy, holy crap do they attack fast. Dunno if its like this for every souls like game? But maybe they made it this way because of the ashes of war and summons.

It's funny, I tried to do my first playthrough mainly blind without really knowing much about anything and I apparently (accidentally) ended up using the most broken (in a good way) weapon in the game, or at least one of them .

I was really an amateur when it came to the souls games themselves, so i didn't really know a ton about scaling and how that works/etc. but was just like, oh this things pretty good. I won't say what the weapon was in case you don't want to get spoiled but I wonder if changes have been made to it since I played.

Well I’m sad, I had typed out a response on my phone and it just deleted itself somehow…

I only play the regular game mode and “world of chel”. I would say the regular game mode has improved; as the new “pressure” system rewards sustained offensive zone time. This drains defenders (and goalies) energy and stresses the importance of clearing the puck or taking advantage. Defenders are much more than just pylons you can blow by while simply scoring off of the rush. I can appreciate this as there is a bit more required on how to critically think through offense. But don’t kid yourself, the regular game mode is built to feel arcade-like… hits, shots, and saves all some more dramatic than they really are. Makes for a cheap(ish) feeling experience.

There’s a new thing called “x-factors” which highlight a specific trait a superstar player holds. Like, for example, Kaprizov has the “elite edges” x-factor ability - allowing for one to have increased maneuverability in tight spaces while maintaining possession of the puck. Sure… I’d agree the real life Kaprizov has that. But frankly, I kind of feel like it’s cheap. Why not just have Kaprizov’s balance and agility stats higher than most? Why go through the charade of “x-factors”? Cool, I guess.

World of chel is the video-gamers NHL. Completely built for speed, hax, and flashy moves/goals. You can adjust your player’s attributes, “loadout” (is this CoD?); meaning whether you’re a puck-moving dman, grinder, sniper, etc… and size. But be warned, the current meta is all about building tiny speed demons 5’ 10” 160 lb 95/95 speed acceleration and just blowing by everything to score easy rush goals. The worst part? You can just hip check everything, size and strength be damned.

Shoot, now it's been so long that I might be forgetting it. I think it was called the Bloodhound Fang? It was sweet.

Yup! I think thats a weapon that drops from an optional boss from the Evergol? Or whatever theyre called, and i think that boss is in Limgrave. Came across it as well.
