outside of age of empires and mobile gaming im moving on slowly.

I mean if they announced GTA:VI in like 2 or 3 years (or RDR3) I'll probably bite the bullet. The biggest issue for me, is just time. I've got coworkers with more kids and more responsibility than me, yet they somehow manage to wedge 1-2 hours of gaming in. Meanwhile I'm busting my rear off for 9 hours a day and then studying for certs/doctorate until 11pm every night lol. I want a break too!

For someone who only wants to play Franchise Mode and My Player without the online stuff, how is NHL22 this year? Better yet or still largely terrible?

I've looked at it, but I don't have a PS5 and everything I've seen/heard is it's not worth it unless you have the PS5.

I have a series X so I’m fine getting it but I have probably bought it in some fashion the last 5yrs at it’s been brutal for what I want to do in it.

The be a pro and franchise mode are the parts of the game basically I play. The graphics got a huge upgrade with the new series consoles. They reworked other parts of the game to some extent, but not a big overhaul. Poke checks work and aren't an instant trip to the penalty box. The defensive AI is improved so they'll jump passes and and cut off some of the lanes. More skill is needed for passing.

I'd get it for the new gen system because of the graphics upgrades. I'm waiting for the price to drop before I think about buying it on my older gen system, mostly because I want to play with the current players/rosters and not the ones from a few years ago.

i only play online. but i can tell you theyve mostly fixed pucks going through sticks and bodys. collision detection is a big upgrade. Also, they have roster sharing starting in december for franchises.

NHL has never had enough offline content to keep me hooked on HUT. I really wish that it was more like Madden or MLB where you could log in, build a team, unlock stuff casually and every once and a while play online. I'm just not anywhere near good enough at NHL to play and have fun online.

I haven't bought Vanguard yet but I played Resident Evil Village and that was darn fun.

I liked RE8 a lot too. I pretty much at the very least 'enjoyed' every RE game I've played (I didn't play 6). Village gets a little out there a few times in terms of ridiculousness but that's Resident Evil. I'll probably play it again sometime. That house with the mannequins or whatever and the monster in the basement is terrifying.

I'm starting to catch up and play some of the games from earlier this year or ones that I was able to get on sale. Far Cry 6 was kind of a typical Ubisoft game where it was overall a blast, but some of the stuff got repetitive. I'm playing Tales of Arise right now...obviously only for JRPG fans, but I played a couple of the earlier Tales games (Vesperia and Berseria I think) and bounced off them eventually but this one is great. The combat still has the Artes stuff but it's way more fun.

I’m kinda waiting for my son to tell me if I need to play FarCry 6 now or if its just meh and I can wait for the price to drop.

Totally agree on the doll house monster, twisted and scary.

I've bought every far cry (except for the latest one) since 3.... and have been completely unimpressed with every single one of them. Guess I finally learned my lesson. I will recommend Guardians of the Galaxy though... tons of fun!

Never played much Farcry myself... Only one I ever got was 5 and I couldn't really get into it. Story seemed ok from what I remember but the gameplay wasn't what I am used to.

Been thinking about a quest 2 lately. My laptop has a 2070 max q so I'm not entirely sure how well it would drive something more.

Will probably just roll with my default and keep playing Apex haha

I think FC6 is still really good, although I haven't really played a lot of the older ones. I somehow found a deal just a couple weeks after it came out to get it for PS4 (free PS5 upgrade) for $50 I think it was. Might have even been $40. It was well worth that if you can get it discounted. Tons of stuff to do, the game looks amazing, and you can have a ton of fun doing whatever you want like driving all sorts of different vehicles, flying helicopters and planes, stuff like that. It's pretty cool how many different weapons there are you can get and the amount of upgrades/customization there is. I liked to do things a bit stealthily so you can equip silencers on pretty much everything you have...once you get stuff upgraded pretty good it almost makes it a little too easy to take out big groups of enemies from far away.

I think it's a solid 8/10 game. Maybe 8.5.

Wasn’t sure if this belongs in the General OT or the video game discussion but Arcane: League of Legends (Netflix TV show) it’s quite good. I’m up through the 6 episodes and I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

I recommend. I was going to put highly, but it’s not quite at highly. Strongly? :shrug

I acquired Erikson Ek fantasy evo card in the hockey ultimate mode, meaning everytime he scores in real life the card gets upgrade, its much more fun having these tradeable cards than playing game itself. Feels more GM thing than playing franchise mode against computer.

You can still get these cards from marketplace as theyre low overall. Erikson Ek is still just 84 and goes between 120k to 150k coins. After he has scored 10 more goals his overall is 94 when he has much more value.

Do I suck in actual game, oh yes but I dont care.

I picked up HZD complete edition for $10 awhile ago. I forgot how much fun this game is. It's been so long that I don't remember most parts of the story so it has a new game feel to it.

Started playing Red Dead Redemption II the other week after my kid bought a ps4 with his own $$$ he saved up (nice job kiddo!). It's been about 15ish years since I played anything (Quake 3 arena, Unreal Tournament 03, Castle Wolfenstein, etc).

Shootin' up them dang O'Driscolls sure is fun.

This is going to be a weird suggestion... if you get to a point where you find the game boring as hell... just stop... and play again later. I played and quit twice before playing again a third time like a year later and it may be my favorite game of all time.

I've got nothing I want to play until Elden Ring finally releases. But... if you're itching for a good CRPG check out Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It's based on the Pathfinder ruleset (side note, if you're super nerdy like me.... check out the podcast The Glass Cannon. My favorite podcast, an actual play DnD (pathfinder) podcast, it is amazing). The game is really good and the latest edition has a good turn based option

I should probably give that game a shot, not sure why I haven't yet.

I ended up finishing Tales of Arise and I think it is my favorite game of 2021...I still haven't played Returnal and Ratchet and Clank or a couple of others but it was the game I had the most fun with by far. I almost never try to get all of the trophies anymore like I used to but I just wanted to with that game. It has its faults for sure and the story might have a couple goofy parts at the end but overall it was just great. I think I posted this a while back when I was first playing it but I tried some of the older games like Vesperia and Berseria but never finished them, this one is so much better with the combat. Just a great game.

After I finished that game I've been jumping around to a few other games...haven't really locked in on anything but playing a lot of Stardew Valley (old reliable/relaxing), Super Mario Odyssey (finally playing it), and picked up Deathloop and Ratchet and Clank to play at some point.

It's getting more and more coverage but another one to try if you like card games is Inscryption...definitely won't post any spoilers but it's a bit of a trip and a really fun card battle thing. I haven't played a ton of those in the past but it's relatively cheap on Steam/Epic Games store.

Games are good! So many good ones to choose from right now. Looking forward to God of War Ragnarok, the new Horizon game and Elden Ring in 2022.
