Luckily, said contests only happened with the old guard, and almost all of them have now retired.

Our key guys born in the 80s had no issues with the authoritarian style of the former Jalonen, so it'd be a bit strange if they suddenly found the new one intolerable to work with.

Still, it'll be interesting to see what kind of fit his coaching style is with certain players. For example, Jori Lehterä really struggled with J.Jalonen, but prospered under Erkka.

There's still OJ. Erkka claims he's grown up since but you never know, OJ's always gotten along well with Erkka anyway. Everyone else can probably be reasoned with as long as you give them some leash like JJ learned to do. At least I don't think anyone else would 'retire' from the NT even if they had a spat with the coach.

Coaches: 14-15

A-maajoukkue - Kari Jalonen
Naisten maajoukkue - Pasi Mustonen
Alle 20-vuotiaiden maajoukkue - Hannu Jortikka
Alle 18-vuotiaiden maajoukkue - Mika Marttila
Alle 18-vuotiaiden tyttöjen maajoukkue - Jari Risku
Alle 17-vuotiaiden maajoukkue - Jussi Ahokas
Alle 16-vuotiaiden maajoukkue - Juuso Nieminen

Good looking lineup. Happy with Marttila and Nieminen signings.

There's still OJ.
Well, OJ is not exactly a key guy anymore. Having him off the depth could hurt if we run into a shortage like last year, but he'd be more or less a non-factor when most of other regulars are available - and he'll be completely off the rotation in 2-3 seasons anyway.

I'm not saying him developing a spat with KJ would be negligible, but it'd be manageable.

Nice to see Urama had the sense to step down from the U18 gig. Or was removed, whatever.

As far as Jortikka goes... like I said in the thread dedicated to the subject, there are very few coaches we'd feel excited with after Kivi. Jortikka is no such coach, but with his experience and merit, he's still far from the worst possible choice.

Only thing i remeber about Jortikka as the coach of U-20 team was that he didn't even know who Erik Haula was. I hope he's willing to go to North America to watch our young players who is playing there.

Not happy with Jortikka, te be honest. I'm not sure his temper fits coaching a team of teenagers, and his steady row of firings from various teams of course raise questions.

As a TPS supporter I feel the need to say sorry, Midas.

Thank heavens Urama is gone.

He coached U-20 team at the 2010 WJC, so it's not like hasn't done it recently. His KHL exits haven't had anything to do with his coaching abilities, he's had an unfortunate luck of being in the worst run organizations with poor management where he's had little to say in player acquisitions.

Also, since this thread was about Team Finland at the Worlds in Minsk, I don't see the point of talking about the U-20 team when there's already a thread for it elsewhere.
