And added a goal. Kid's putting up the same numbers as Cozens on what looks like a substantially worse team.
Add in that beckman is a pretty young prospect for the draft. Obviously CHL production doesn’t always translate, but I can’t remember the last time we’ve had this many non-firstRnd prospects to be excited about.

I’ve been thinking the same thing.

‘18 picks:

- McBain
- Khovanov
- S. Johansson
- Giroux
- Hentges

‘19 picks:

- Jones
- Beckman
- Warren

Exciting times..

I’ve seen some BC games. Boldy needs to use his wingers more. He has almost 30 shots, many from bad angles. Looks like he’s pressing. Newhook has had some incredible luck with bounces and deflections. Some take longer to adapt to the big boy hockey at NCAA level. McBain looks good, being used as #1 penalty killer, 6’4 beast, who has offensive upside. Power down low but does need to shoot more. He should perhaps be center with Boldy on wing. Still early for these players who are 18/19 yrs old playing against many 20-24 yr olds.

Boldy had 17 points in 17 games against college opponents last year. He shouldn’t need time to adjust.

If that position changes him from a ppg player at a level to a one point player at the same level, he doesn’t play that position
Or, you give him time to adjust to the position change, because these things don't always happen overnight?

Outside of points, it sounds like he's played extremely well, so maybe it just needs a bit more time and the points come in too?

Looks like it was 2+2. And somehow didn't get a star
Anyone want to take a shot at explaining the misconduct that Khovanov got on that scoresheet? I think that I figured everything out except the part about "an altercation does not ensue"

Yeah but the goalie who gave up 6 goals on 57 shots (.895 sv%) got the third star. Go figure. But the guys sv% this season so far is .880, so good for him for having an above average game.

Half of the goalies in that league are under .900. That's crazy. If the Wild could petition their way into the Q, they could finally have league average goaltending.

Is this guy our clear #3 prospect at this point?
I don’t know if that’s clear. I mean I’m no scout, but I think beckman, Firstov and hentges have to be in there. Maybe one of the goalies. I like khovanov but I just stat watch the CHL for the most part. He looks brilliant in his highlight clips, but again, take it with a grain of salt.

Probably not a fair comparison, but I get a tiny bit of deja vu with Hentges: speedy skater and a good shooter, played high school hockey in Minnesota then spent a year in the USHL and was drafted in the 7th round. Moved on to a Division 1 school in Minnesota, where he had modest freshman numbers but was over a point-per-game as a sophomore. Currently has 8 goals and 3 assists in Carolina.

I know Sam really well, and he is something else. He shot up so quick, from his junior year in highschool to now, He’s improved so much and so quickly. I don’t know what his ceiling is but I’ll tell you two years ago I never thought he’d be where he is now. Nobody works harder or deserves it more. I try not to speak to his game though as I have a bit of bias in his favor.

That would be a dream.

To me, keeping in mind that they're all prospects and developing players and stuff like this is going to happen, but this seems so unexpected that I'd like to see it for longer than 8 games before I declare that this is the new norm. I don't watch St Cloud though so I can't speak to how he actually plays. Not trying to take anything from Hentges either, this is a great start and I'm happy for him.

My top prospects list for us would still look like:
Kaprizov
Boldy
Khovanov
Beckman
Jones
Belpedio
Hentges
Firstov
Filip
Warren
