Sokolov playing in ECHL for Allen

Mike Russo mentioned he thought this signaled the end of the line for Sokolov but it's actually a great opportunity for him. Look up Carter Verhaeghe - played a role for the Lightning just the other night after looking like an ECHLer a couple of years ago. Smart money is probably on Sokolov busting, sure, but a few games where he lights it up couldn't hurt.

He wasn't playing in games in the AHL. The ECHL move could be good or bad. He'll get games and he can dominate. Maybe it'll be the kick in the rear he needs? Or it's beginning of the the end with his NA career.

How many prospects do we have in the NCHC? Badgers play Nebraska-Omaha this weekend so I might get the monthly pass for the entire conference vs one school ($28 vs $24 lol). Sam Hentges for SCSU, could any of you give a quick scouting report of him? What you've seen him do well and what he needs to work on?

Side note: Did Rabid Husky quit/get banned/change their name on HF? I haven't seen them in awhile and I was gonna tag them in this post but it won't register their name. They would be a great source of info on this topic.

Edit: @Chokey McChokerston

Chokey McChokerson I think.

Hentges and Swaney are the only 2 I can think of.

Stat sheet it appears. Sounds like he's playing really well.

Caufield is going to what he's going to do, pop in some goals and do very little else.
that's what I assumed. could only imagine he is getting every offensive opportunity. his defensive game could be tragic but I don't watch. I try to catch every BC highlight, don't see 12 on the ice too often for goals against.

Not worried. Boldy is one of the best two way players from his draft class. He joined a team that isn’t that great on a line with another freshman who has skill, but isn’t elite by any means.

Caufield is going to rely heavily on being able to find space and having his teammates get the puck to him, something that gets a lot harder in the pros.

I’d still take Boldy over Caufield 10 times out of 10 at this point.

I’d still take Boldy over caufield, but if caufield scores 35 goals this year and Boldy ends with 8 points I’ll start to rethink it.

Which means he'll be a third line center, pop in a half dozen goals and end up like Coyle or Kunin or Eriksson-Ek. For once could we have a guy be the elite scorer of his draft class?

Doesn’t seem like the Minnesota thing to do

That guy wasn't available when the Wild made their pick

If you want the elite scorer from any given draft class, you’re probably going to have to get over the fear of hitting rock bottom that this organization and some of the fans seem to have.

Or get really, really lucky, as opposed to just lucky.

I don't have a fear of hitting rock bottom. I was just not in favor of purposefully tearing down a playoff team to reach it though.

That’s fine, but this isn’t a playoff team anymore. So tear down the pieces that don’t fit long term.

Or keep drafting 7-15 and getting the leftovers, and hoping you snag a Pastrnak or Kucherov somehow.

Moscow, Russia
Khovanov with 2 goals and 2 primary assists in 4-3 win over QMJHL. He's so good this season, Team Russia is going to be good at WJC, considering all the KHL players plus Khovanov and Zavgorodniy.
