General Off-Day Thread (complain about the coach here))

It's kinda funny that a guy can have a NTC but if they clear waivers we can basically send them anywhere in North America. So like is there anything stopping us from sending Jarry to Wheeling? Or signing an agreement with some SPHL team and sending him there? Just keep doing that until he refuses to report and then his contract is voided. Do the same with Graves.

People will claim that it will make it difficult to lure free agents later on if we treat them that way but athletes are supremely confident in their abilities and none of them will even consider for a second that they're going to be the next Graves or Jarry.

Yes, the CBA. Players on non-entry-level deals have to approve being sent to anywhere but the AHL.

Not sure if this is the best thread for this but also not sure how non-Pens you like to keep the lounge so mods feel free to move this.

But on the 45th anniversary of the first game the team wore black and gold unis, (1/30/1980), I wanted to share with anyone who was interested a few pix of program pages from Penguins games prior to the color change, programs I have saved and am uncovering as we purge the too-many bins of stuff in our basement. These are games my folks would have taken me to when I was elementary/junior high school age.

2 pix from 1979 (ha almost to the day!)
3 pix from 1975

1st page is the police lineup of the local mob.

I know @HandshakeLine would love to get that 1974/75 program with Bob Kelly in it.

What a nice little time capsule you have.

Take this with a grain of salt, but Jagr just sold 80% of his stake in Kladno and a redditor with a Kladno flair said that there are very early local rumors that he's taking some sort of job with the Penguins.

I'm skeptical he has the money to buy the Penguins as a minority owner, but this coming out a few days after the FSG news does make it seem like an interesting thought.

I don't put much stock in it. Jágr has wanted to get out of Kladno for years, they have been the worst team in the Extraliga by an unfathomable margin (they were like 83 points out of the playoffs last year). Plus the amount of money the Pens would pay Jarda isn't really enough to entice him to quit.

It's not unlikely that Jágr might come back in some capacity, but I don't think him selling Kladno has anything to do with it.

Reddit, man.

I kinda figured Jagr would end up as a European scout for the team or something when they said he'd be part of the org during the bobblehead stuff.

I would, one hundred percent.

Yeah, that's far more likely. But even then, I don't think he'll be good at it per se. Kladno was just unfathomably badly run under his tenure and nobody really takes him seriously here anymore. I don't think he'd add much to the club besides a name, so, basically Artie 2.0. (I think Stevens' big nab when he was scout was Marino, no?)

Weirdly enough, we share the same barber (friend of mine, haircutter to the stars), so I'll ask him next time I pop up for a trim what the rumors are.

Yeah, Stevens was what I thought of when they mentioned he'd be involved in some capacity. Just kinda let him hang out and scout games and maybe you find something.
