I would say Merkulov and Lysell (and Poitras) still have the potential to be top 6 NHL forwards. Whether that is with the Bruins though is seeming less likely by the day. If either of them were traded to SJ or CHI tomorrow, it wouldn't surprise me in the least for them to not only stick in the NHL but be productive. Bruins (right or wrong) just seem to have their own way of handling young, offense-first players.
They want everyone to be a Bergeron. 200 foot player. It’s ok to teach them this. I think they dwell on it to much.

This. Not everyone needs to be a 200 foot elite two-way player.
they don`t grow on trees that`s for sure, if they did, we would have seen most teams in the league who had true Selke candidates, instead, since , let`s say 2010 to now, it was primarily Bergy, Kopitar, think O`Rielly slid in there a time or two, maybe Barkov, but essentially it was a 2 man contest, again, showing a 200ft player is the exception, not the norm

I think the shop has sailed on Merk. 24 aint prospect anymore. AAAA player. 21 year old Lysell is a different matter.

Yeah my opinion is the mishandled Merk by leaving him at C which was a position he is never going to be good enough to pay at the NHL level. LW maybe he could have made it, but they wasted 100+ games of development

Also I don't know if it's even possible to develop an elite two-way forward. What makes those players so special is because they have elite hockey IQ and that can't be taught.

Ya you can make someone into a passable PK'er and things like that but the greats either have it or they don't. We shouldn't be spending efforts on trying to make prospects something they aren't.

The Bruins drafted Lysell to be speedy and crafty goalscoring wing and thats what he should be. He's not Mark Stone out there but I'll be honest, he made one of the best backchecks all preseason when the goalie was pulled one game.

I think his issue is similar to Merkulov's and that's being strong on pucks and making smart plays

I completely agree with this...and was stomping my feet all offseason saying they needed to make this switch.

I don't think there is anyone as small as him outside of guys like Hughes and Point that play center. He's not even close to an NHL center

That’s the problem though, when I’ve watched Lysell in world juniors or saw some of his draft tape, he was always responsible defensively and backcheck wise.

He’s a good defensive player. He’s not huge or anything but has a fantastic motor and hounds people.

His real knock is not playing with his line mates on the rush or trying to dangle through 5 guys.

But i’m really shocked we haven’t seen him up top this year, especially after last year and seeing a gaping hole on RW

that because you watched his draft tape, they ain`t showing the gliding backcheck

Got to see him often when he was playing for Van Giants, while he was a man among boys offensively, it seemed there was only one zone on the ice at different times

I don`t get to see PB games so certainly can`t comment on those

Jones has been better than solid of late,he's probably the next guy up

Tufte is hot and cold, when he's on you notice him

I don't know what happened to Jones earlier- injury and missing a lot of camp I guess. He may never reach his draft potential, but he is a true NHL player that should be good in Providence. I'd like to see him seize the opportunity when it comes. At the top of his game, he'd make a good third liner for the Big Bs.

Maybe a chance to be a Freddy replacement if they move on from him

At this point just play the kids and see

Marchy Lindholm Pastrnak
Zacha Poitras Lysell
Merk Coyle Brazz
Freddy Katselic Koepke
Geekie

Lohrei McAvoy
Lindholm / Zad Carlo
Wotherspoon / Peeke
Sway
Korpi

Try to trade Geekie for something 5th rd pick maybe / waive Johnson

PP1
Brazzeau (best around of the net) Lindholn ( best at the dot) Pasta ( best shooter) Lohrei ( best carrier offensice D) Zadorov ( best canon of a shot D)

PP2
Marchy Merk Lysell
McA Zacha

At this just try something it is soooo pathetic

Got to love that playing the kids apparently means sending Beecher to Providence so 2 guys who couldn't beat him out for a job get top 9 roles.

Comets did nothing, except score 2 and an empty netter. PBruins, well they look a lot like the big club

Did Flosports for Nov. Stopped that tonight for Dec.
Don't like ESPN+ price increase so done with that this upcoming Wednesday.

My calendar is opening up

Some complaints from last night

Nelson plays like he's got a job in corporate lined up

Harrison has the intensity level of my 16 year old spayed Cat

Bravaro, beautiful skater,can't defend

Lysell just kills the momentum with a dumb penalty

Had a friend over who played college hockey and he asked, was Bavaro a forward before someone decided he should play D?

Should let Nelson work a week corporate, I'd bet he'd bust his ass to never go back
