This argument immediately calls back to my post last week about how the two parties aren't really that much different in the end. Republicans in DC generally don't care if they look like an asshole because their constituents either like that they look like assholes are don't think they look like assholes at all because they are standing up for what they believe in. Democrats in DC play to this "we care about everyone" and do ridiculous pandering shit like Pelosi and others taking a knee for eight minutes and 46 seconds while wearing African scarves but, at the end of the day, they don't give a shit either...they are just the "good guys" in the MSM v. the "bad guy" Republicans. Newsflash: they are all the bad guys.

The Dems didn't want to actually pass stimulus relief prior to the election because it is better for them to politically to pin it all on McConnell and Co. Now that the election is over, Pelosi and friends can cut over a $1B off their initial ask. Very interesting. Now I'm not saying that the second stimulus hasn't happened because of the Dems but I'm certainly not saying that it all falls on the Republicans either: NEITHER OF THEM ACTUALLY GIVES A f*** ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT THEIR OWN INTERESTS.

It's a career. They will generally vote, flip/flop, sell their soul etc...for whatever keeps them employed in this nice and cushy government job. The 24 hour news media has done a fantastic job of hardening the opinions of those morons that must pick a side and self-identify with a political party to the point that the politicians have to worry more about this vocal minority than they do the normal person. Now, if they cared more about the latter, we could get somewhere but, again, they want to keep their jobs. Probably the best example of this are the career Republicans that shit all over Trump and then wound up becoming giant cucks for him.

I find it somewhat amusing that the same people that use socialism as a pejorative buzz word are endorsing the government borrowing trillions of dollars for "stimulus". That's a fancy word for redistribution of wealth. The hypocrisy is not all that surprising. I didn't get a stimulus check nor did I want one. But I'll get my fair share of the debt liability. I also get to absorb the inflation from the deficit spending. Welfare is socialism but stimulus is what exactly? Stimulus is only necessary because so many people in this country weren't prepared for an emergency.

At the end of the day, I'm ok with the stimulus but I do think it's incredibly hypocritical of Trump and Republicans to lament socialism and social programs along with running massive deficits. The deficit went up all four years under Trump and that's mostly due to increased discretionary spending. This is same guy who spent Obama's eight years screaming about the spending. Hell, the first two years he was in office he had a Republican congress and spending increased which led to the largest deficit since 2012. They did this on record tax receipts. There is not a single fiscally responsible politician in Washington. How can you keep straight face when Mr. Tea Party himself (Mulvaney) gets on national television and makes the comment "deficits don't matter"? It's outrageous!

It's adorable when people think that there is a free market lol. There are some outlets for those radio personalities you mentioned in an earlier post. Most are still on the air today. Accessing markets via RW controlled radio stations is the real issue. For example, in liberal LA there are zero progressives on the air. Why? not because they arent popular its access to the airwaves. Cumulous took the number 1 rated progressive talker off the air for a 17th am sports station ffs. Furthermore Rush is available on multiple stations at the same time with low ratings. There has been a corporate take over.

Actually no, thats not how it works. its a shame civics was slashed from our education decades ago.

US gvmt 101: The house passes a bill and sends it to the senate. The senate takes up the bill for a vote. They either pass it or make changes. If there are changes it is sent back to the House for a vote on the changes. rinse and repeat. The Senate did nothing. The senate is responsible for the lack of a COVID response.

Nailed it. The idea that Republicans in DC are fiscally-conservative and want less government is like saying the Kings were a contender last season because Trevor Lewis was still here and he was there in 2012 and '14. Second Bush expanded the government. Spending didn't stop with Trump...it just gets shifted somewhere else.

Same goes for Dems and all of the pie-in-the-sky stuff they say they are going to do. Obama kept Guantanamo open and was the drone strike king.

What really happens? You say all the stuff you want to do, you win the election but then you got to pay back all the sources of the money that put you there.

There are also D's in the Senate. They have moved to block Republican proposals started in the Senate.

Both sides have been unwilling to compromise: especially prior to the election.

That only works when you have people willing to compromise. There's that time when the Speaker was unwilling to make a deal talking directly with the White House. So no, the Senate sending a different bill back to the House would not have made one bit of a difference and we'd be sitting and arguing the same thing.

The senate has rules. Only the majority leader can bring bills to the floor to vote. Mitch did no such thing.

Sure, a $500B plan is a non-starter for Dems but so is $2+ trillion for the Republicans so, again, it just seems like everyone is acting in bad faith but one side gets to play the "We tried to help but they wouldn't let us" card.
