When this whole thing started the stated goal was to not overwhelm hospitals. I still don't see hospitals being overwhelmed.

Many health officials said without a vaccine, everyone will eventually contract COVID-19. I don't necessarily agree with this point of view, because if you are a person at-risk you should take steps to avoid it.

Come Fall it is time to send the kids back to school. Teachers who are at-risk should stay home. We can't continue to destroy our economy and our future with the current COVID-19 response plan.

Agreed here, but depends on where you are. Arizona and Texas are as close to overwhelmed as it gets and trajectory is up.

Here, the trajectory is up, and it's important to stay in front of it. We knew there may be several steps back in this process. Especially since idiots think a piece of cloth is an obstacle to freedom.

This is not in any way shape or form directed at you , but more and more it is hard to really know what is really true.
We have some articles saying Texas is overwhelmed, that Houston is and then a hospital CEO saying that they aren't even close.

I can't also say if this source is even accurate . I had no idea that Houston and San Antonion were bigger than Dallas
Source (I lifted this from the covid board here)

So of the "Big 3" it looks like Houston is in definite trouble, but it is the only one

Arizona overall (holy shit)

Phoenix (maricopa County)

I am confused though.

Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler,Gilbert, Glendale Scottsdale, Tempe, and Surprise are all Maricopa
Peoria is somehow in 2 counties..lol Half Maricopa and Half Yavapai

I am not following how they are at 100% when their biggest population centers aren't?

Well, the problem is those are current numbers, too. You have to consider the case trajectory. IE if a county is already at 90% ICU usage and their numbers are only trending up severely in the last week...

I agree that--as always, unfortunately--the info we're given is problematic.

I have to admit, this is the first I had heard of Riverside County having a surge

OC's infection rate is SCARY though

The European schools that reopened experienced no spikes in cases. Apparently, child to adult transmissions are very rare.

which hospital?

Reportedly Anaheim and Santa Ana are leading the surge, but the problem is that determination is made based upon where the patient lives, not where they contracted it

I am running today's numbers vs Mondays to see where we are at. Note these are county-wide and could vary greatly from your friend's hospital

Monday
Cases Hospitalized including ICU= 485
ICU Cases 175
Thursday
Cases Hospitalized including ICU= 556
ICU Cases 193

Rise since Monday
Hospitalizations:485/556= .8723 so 12.77%
ICU: 175/193= .9067 so 9.33%

My wife had two Covid positive mothers in post-partum yesterday at the same time. First time this has happened throughout all of this. She says it takes like five nurses to take care of them.

Uh-oh, a large hydroxychloriquine study finds it "significantly" lowered the death rate in patients.

Hydroxychloroquine lowers COVID-19 death rate, Henry Ford Health study finds
Why “uh-oh”? I’m pretty sure the world would be thrilled if hydro turned out to be an effective treatment. It’s amazing that after 6 months we still can’t get a definitive study on this bullshit. They must be putting Dr. Lexus in charge.

“Don’t worry about it scro!”
