OT: General College Hockey Talk

Denver won the final of the four games yesterday so the brackets from yesterday become:

Denver vs. Minnesota-Duluth
Minnesota St. vs. Notre Dame.

Today's games feature Levi's Northeastern Huskies at noon against Western Michigan, Portillo/Power and the Wolverines against AIC at 3:00, Huglen/Johnson and the Gophers at 6:00 against UMass.

Day 1 toughts:

-I didn't get to see the Denver game, but all 4 games seemed über-competitive. Every inch of ice was contested which will make for a really exciting tournament.

-Ryan Fanti, Duluth's goalie, is playing in a different zone. 3 consecutive shutouts is impressive. When you do it against the #3, #4 and #12 teams, you are otherwordly.

-My bracket is screwed; 2-2. I think Chainshot went 4-0. Good show, chap!

Ha! I didn't go back to look, maybe I should!

beats ND. Wait. Notre Dame beats NoDak.

WMU avenges yesterday's loss and beats NEU
Minny over Mass though I could see that going the other way for some reason.

Denver enjoys relative home ice and beats Lowell
MDU sneaks by Tech.

Huh, 4-for-4 yesterday. :biglaugh:

I guess I can't get to 80% wrong.

I had a daydream that someone like Costantini would have a great game to drive himself into Sabre fans thoughts but outside of the turnover he gave up to Slaggert, he didn't have much of a noteworthy game yesterday. The other five guys (also known as those Lance mentioned in his article yesterday) are all in action today.

I tuned in a little later in the game. Was Costantini benched? I don't think I heard his name in the 3rd or OT.

Passed the puck directly to Slaggert for a GA. They pretty much stapled him to the bench from then on - I don't recall more than a couple of shifts.

And the Broncos strike first... 1-0 WMU

NE hung Levi out to dry on that one. Perfect shot. It sucks that it highlights the concern about him in the pros, he's vulnerable up high.

Also of note, western Michigan is really really good. They might be my favorite for winning it all.

He pulled his blocker elbow back on the shot, which is what opened up the top of the net. Most guys do that, but shouldn't. As a smaller guy, he's going to have to use his hands to cut off the angle of the shot more than that, or he will get beat high.
