TV: General Anime Discussion (Part 3)

Welp, started season 3 of AOT late Sunday and finished that this afternoon.

Did not expect this from the basement:

for there to be a (slightly) more advanced civilization across the sea that banished our main people

I finished Pluto and it was bloody good, but there were some things I didn't like. The biggest one was the one-hour episodes, that came almost as a chore when some parts went really slow (the first two episodes especially). Anime just cannot be a one-hour segment IMHO besides movies. Unpredictability was off the charts, it made it super refreshing, but the ending was too cliche. A lot of stuff I was expecting to happen did, and that was a bit disappointing. Still amazing and I am glad that M2 got it. They did wonders.

I am currently binge watching Solo Leveling. Yes, it is dumb as hell and super cliche, but damn it is effing amazing.
Glad you liked Pluto! I totally agree with Solo Leveling, it's not anything we haven't seen before, but they just do it in such a way where it's so much fun. The Solo Leveling Abridged series on YouTube is pretty funny as well.

Yeah, season 3 is pretty insane and the turn the show makes is something I didn't have on my bingo card. Good luck in season 4! :D

Have been hearing so many good things about Solo Leveling. It's been a long time since I've watched an anime, but I think im gunna jump into this one.

Finished Attack On Titan last night. Elsewhere someone asked me what I thought about the final season when I had 3 episodes left. And what I thought was going to happen. I said:

I never really cared for Eren so him being a total twat this season I guess makes sense. Haven't cared for all of the "no, now I'm on your side... Just kidding... Wait no I'm not" going on. So I guess it wouldn't surprise me if Eren has another plot twist up his sleeve.

I don't think the series ever really heavily leaned into the fantasy aspect but I'm fine with the origins of the Titans. Glad they showed it.

I'm iffy on the "time travel" aspect with the Coordinate and Attack Titan but whatever.

[prediction] Reiner and Annie die heroic deaths to make up for their "sins". Mikasa ends up killing Eren. Levi gets a big heroic last battle. Only just have thought of this since you asked: Titans somehow cease to exist thru something Eren does but it isn't via genocide or euthanasia [edit for clarification: I meant genocide or euthanasia of only the Titans/Eldians]. Maybe Mikasa kills him and he ascends after eating all the other Titans.

I'm kinda getting genocidal Jesus vibes from Eren. Plus I think the creator is taking from Christianity a bit. Not to the level of NGE but still

Summer line-up looks amazing.

Also Makeine getting a 2nd season is a massive win. One of the best shows in past year

AOT was the anime that got me back into anime after a long time. It legitimately surprised me at times. Towards the end it got a little more predictable.

But also Levi Ackerman is one of the biggest bad asses in anime and worth it alone.

I didn't really have an idea of what show to watch next, so I found some lists of the best anime on Netflix, and Blue Box kept getting shown up as one of the best ones. Because of that, I decided to give it a go and for the most part, I thought it was pretty good. I don't know, maybe I am not in love with it as others are, but it does a lot of good things to stay fresh. Nonetheless, I was also not into it as others I have watched because it wants to be a romcom, but it also wants to be Haikyu!!!!, but it doesn't, but it wants to be a sports anime at the same time, but we barely get any interesting match ups in the sports, but we also kind of do, but very few minutes ever go into those match ups, but we get absolutely zero Chi viewpoints of basketball, but we know they lost, but it was just considered an afterthought, but it's also a defining part of the storyline, but at the same time, it's not really, and so forth.

It goes into a bunch of different directions, and I think it lacks a bit of cohesion because the writers/manga creator does not know how deep they want to take each element (yeah, not going into any sort of clips concerning basketball is pretty strange to me). What I hated though, was the cliffhanger that happens in the final episode. I thought the show was going to be done in the 25 episodes it was given, since that's normally the length for this type of anime, but we're getting another season and I am a bit surprised since episode 22 through 25 seemed it was reaching its climax.

I think I am going to start Oshi no Ko Season 2 now.

I love romance/romcom animes, but 12 episodes of Blue Box was enough for me. It was just too boring for me and neither of the MCs didn't interest me at all. So I for one don't get the hype at all.
