Spy x Family looks really good. Also hyped about Bleach, but really hope they give the time for the final arc. Normally, I have found is when they do these reboots, they tend to try to stuff everything at once in these episodes and turns out to feel mega rushed in the end.
The thing is, the final arc itself is rushed in the manga. Like they basically canned Kubo right in the middle of the arc so he had like 2 chapters to wrap everything up.

That and the fact that Bleach should have ended after Ichigo beat Aizen, I'm not really hyped for this.

Also, bleach sucks. Like re-watch it. Its really stupid. None of the powers make sense or follow their own rules, Ichigo has no motivation other than "protect my friends" so one of his friends has to get kidnapped or turn evil in every arc, Aizens answer to everything is "it was all a part of my plan". I mean I'm not spoiling it when I say this since I'm pretty sure this show is a continuation of where the anime left off, I'll censor it just in case

When Aizen explained that Ichigos literal entire life from before he was even born was part of Aizens plan to fight someone who was as strong as him it made me realize that Kubo was just not a good writer.

Edit:

Oh yeah I almost forgot, the story solution to Aizen being so insanely god-like overpowered when he finally gets the hogyoku to merge with him? Ichigos dad trains him in the hyperbolic time chamber for 3 months off-screen. Lol.

Oh yeah and literally nobody remembers this, but Orohime had the power to destroy the hogyoku, like it was a chekovs gun where the story revolves around her being kidnapped for her amazing power and her plotting to destrpy the macguffin with her power. Never happens, her powers are barely mentioned again. It was all a distraction by Aizen. I could rant all day about how badly written bleach was.

I mean you're watching anime to being with and it's one of the few genres where things get...weird. Case in point: Jojo.

I get that regardless of what you're watching there should be consistency and believable aspects. There are some things about Bleach that doesn't make sense or were not done properly. However, I grew up with the show and it has a place in my heart even if it probably sucks. I haven't read the Thousand Year War arc and one hundred percent agree it should've ended with Aizen. I honestly don't know how you come back from that considering he was a lit villain, but I am still hyped that the show is going to get the true ending that I think it deserves. If it is Food Wars Final Season bad, then at that point I will disregard it.

Forgot to mention, I watched I Want to Eat your Pancreas recently. Not sure what the fad is with all these animes' involving sombering deaths and I suggest that Your Lie in April is still the best of this unique genre, but Pancreas was quite good. Didn't really have anything groundbreaking and I think they could've refreshed the main protagonist better than they did, but quite the twist when the movie reached the climax.

So I just recently started and finished Hunter x Hunter. I thought it was done pretty well, the latter part of the series gets very serious very quickly and I thought that was good. The Phantom Troupe arc was phenomenal I felt like the next and final real arc was sub par after that but it did resolve itself well. I hope the author can find a way to continue it.

Then I rewatched Black Lagoon for the first time in probably 10 years, I'd never watched the OVAs but it was even more fantastic than I remember it being. I can't recommend it more, it's top tier for me.

It made me want to rewatch some other shows I've seen a long while ago like Canaan, Ergo Proxy and Angel Beats! So I'll probably take the time to do so.

Thanks to those that gave recommendations. I think I'm going to try Vinland Saga, and The Promised Neverland next for new series, I also want to check out Black Clover.

Just started Ergo Proxy last night after having it on my list for about a year or so. Only two episodes in, but I'm intrigued.

Obligatory Top 10 Anime of 2021. One show missing that I want to put in, but since it’s not finished I’ll wait for next year’s list is Ranking of Kings, that show is so good it probably would be #2 on this list.

1. Beastars Season 2
2. The Duke of Death and His Maid
3. Re:Zero Season 2
4. Wonder Egg Priority
5. Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song
6. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1
7. Jujutsu Kaisen
8. My Senpai is Annoying
9. Odd Taxi
10. Higurashi When They Cry: GOU

I'm re-watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's a good series but I really don't get Japan sometimes. The show has long stretches of dry complex exposition about politics, bureaucracy, philosophy, technology and things like that, but at the same time they have those cutesy blue tanks speaking with baby voices and acting goofy in general, and the main character runs around in a silly thong outfit for the whole first season. Is there really anyone who enjoys both these sides of the show?

It's so schizophrenic, and I think it scares away a lot of people who would've liked the show if they gave it a chance.

Yes, Japanese people.

Demon Slayer has the greatest non-feature animation I have ever seen and it's not particularly close. Man what a feast for the eyes, especially when the hype is at max level. The finale should be a banger

Demon Slayer is full lit. I still think I have seen a bit better animation in some movies, but this is clearly the best animated show I am pretty sure I ever watched. I mean if there is one who can compete, it is Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (crazy ruin battle scenes) and I found out that Ufotable did both shows, so it makes so much sense now. I do think the storyline suffers from some really bad anime cliches throughout the season, such as "entire family dies and I have nothing to live for now, so lets go on this huge adventure because I don't give a f*** anymore!" It also borrows a lot of elements from Fullmetal, HxH, and dare I say Bleach :x, while at other times there are points I am not sure the show even knows what type of genre it wants to be. Seriously, the show has blood swinging off of swords, multiple gore decapitations, comic relief character, the "I just need to get as strong as possible" relief, the "I need to overcome my weaknesses while facing acceptance for carrying around a blackspot" protagonist, and probably an overpowered female character because f*** it lol. However, this is me seriously nitpicking because besides those complaints I listed above, I am craving for season two.

E: Demon Slayer is what Attack on Titan should've been...

Demon Slayer is boring, formulatic and predictable. Yes it has high production value but not one original thought when it comes to story, themes, humor, character design or world building. The shonen genre is pretty much dead if thats your lead title...

Watched 2 Ghibli movies yesterday, the only ones I’ve seen before were Ponyo cause of my younger siblings watched that all the time, and me and my sister watched Grave of the Fireflies which absolutely killed me great movie though. First I watched Princess Monoke and it was good, really like the world, but I wasn’t really into the characters that much. Then late night I watched Porco Rosso and that was great, definitely my 2nd favorite Ghibli so far, just really funny and some fun action scenes. So I’ll probably end up binging more, and I’m gonna save Spirited Away for last cause ik that’s supposed to be the best one.

It is! Or it was when I watched it in... 2007 or whatever. I imagine it holds up. Also heard Orbital Children is extremely good but haven't watched it yet.

Tangentially it's very funny to me that as Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan ramp up, the hottest animation this week was... Princess Connect.

The Recipe For An Impossible Animation Team – Princess Connect Re:Dive Season 2 Production Notes
So I gave it a shot and quite enjoyed it...it wasn't perfect but did a lot of things well. Characters were REALLY well done and the development of them through the show was ridiculously good (one of the best I've seen). The story was hard to follow though and at times I found myself having to pause the damn thing to understand what all the sci-fi space was about and what problems were happening in it. I am not sure if I still understand like 40% of it lol. That was a problem I had with Psycho-Pass as I absolutely loved that anime as well, but it was like I was reading a Japanese amendment about cyber law or something at times.

Another weird thing is what the show was about in the first ten episodes or so and what happened in the next ten episodes. I freaking loved the first ten and it was just a really chill show displaying the lives of mid-schoolers in the now modern cyber age, but it took a drastic turn as the episodes kept building towards the climax. At first, I wanted the show to be multiple seasons considering we had no clue about much of anything concerning the problem with all the stuff that was happening within the glasses. Nonetheless, I do think it did a good job explaining everything in the final episode sequence, except what Encoders are and how Isako got so damn good at it. Then they added some characters midway about revenge and that felt unnatural because why do I care about this bloke's family? Finally, and this is a problem I have with a lot of Japanese entertainment in general is that they introduce all these characters, the universe, the problems, and the solution and it then tends to have abrupt endings. I think this show has that same problem, but still very good in the end even if I brought about criticisms.

Bruv, you haven't seen Kiki's or Howl's Moving Castle? I haven't watched all of Ghibli's movies yet as well, but the ones I have watched I would rate them...

1. Howl's Moving Castle (Best in terms of creativity, vision, and storyline)
2. Kiki's (Really a nostalgic factor with some of the best characters in all of animation)
3. Castle in the Sky (I really, really liked this one. Best concept of any movie IMHO)
4. Spirited Away (Love me paranormal stuff, but younger characters have a limit in terms of complexity)
5. My Neighbor Totoro (No vision, no storyline, with absolutely nothing, but it just somehow works wonderfully lol)

That's as good of a top five from any studio anywhere on Earth lol. Grave of the Fireflies I hear is probably their best one, but I haven't watched it since I was very young and I do not remember any of it except a bloke riding his bike at twilight or something.

Still haven’t seen the five you’ve seen yet I do plan on it, since my post I’ve seen Porco Rosso twice now I absolutely love that movie now, and I’ve seen “When Marnie Was There” that’s one of their most recent ones, really good movie. Seen “The Cat Returns” and “From up Poppy Hill” which I would both say are above average but not that great, the Cat Returns has some funny moments though and it’s really short. I definitely recommend whenever u get the chance to watch Grave of the Fireflies.

Not sure why or how I keep finding myself watching these shows, but I binge-watched My Dress-Up Darling and Classroom of the Elite.

- My Dress-Up is a rubbish title, but the show has been very good. Very well done and produced at a quality level considering it's about cosplay.

- Classroom of the Elite was lit AF. I can't stand all the DDDDDD breast sizes on the characters, but looking past the horny-juvenile elements the show has, the story/plot was quite interesting. In terms of making an OP'd protagonist, I suggest this show did it the best compared to the Irregular at Magic Highschool which went off the rails. Very much looking forward to season 2 in the summer.

Just been watching a lot lately without any sort of idea of what show I truly wanted to start...

- Wonder Egg Priority: Absolutely loved this show. It's so freaking well done, such fresh characters, and a ridiculously awesome Sci-Fi concept. I thought it was bloody good until the final one or two episodes, which was a letdown and quite anticlimactic.

- Komi Can't Communicate: Cute show, very light-hearted and something that is very easy to watch. Not amazing or groundbreaking by any stretch, but good stuff.

- Horimiya: Meh, not sure why it got such high ratings. I thought it was one that could delve deeper into the tough aspects of being an outcast, but it tends to stay on the superficial end of the spectrum. I probably liked the first half of the season with the main characters, but I got so bored once they kept introducing new ones that forced me to care about their problems. I had no clue what the point of any of them were nor care about them.

- Kaguya Season III: This has got to be one of the only shows which has made me truly laugh throughout every season and the third one started off with a bang when they went to the karaoke bar together. I hate waiting every week because each episode wants me to watch more, even to the point of starting the manga, but I don't want to spoil myself.

- Spy x Family: Very surprised that this type of concept hasn't been done sooner in anime, we had Mr. and Mrs. Smith for like a couple decades now and surprised nobody has tried this concept in other parts of entertainment. Only three episodes in, but thus far it has been great.
