I am surprised by some of the cracks against Irbe I am reading on this thread; I admire how much pride he takes in representing Latvia; in addition, he has extra motivation playing against a team coached by Laviolette since although they did recall him, he played in the ECHL when Laviolette took over the Canes coaching duties; I gained respect when he reported to the ECHL reading the comments from his teammates, etc.; also, he has been playing in Austria this season to get ready for the Olympics (and the 06 WCs in Latvia) so I expected him to be in game shape.

I want the USA to win this game, but I would be thrilled to see Irbe and the Latvian team pull off an upset during the round robin. They are an easy team to root for, IMO.
