Wow poor game, big suprise! It has been poor games the whole series and this is what happen when the series don't mean a thing just a transport into the finals.

So the swedes took the dive, to get Switzerland against in QF? Some might say it's all a good tactic, but I don't think I'm alone saying, that's a *****ing disgrace. :shakehead

Shame on Sweden. :madfire:

Oh, what a surprise.
A SVK goal.

SWE can truly feel ashamed.
A lot of SWE fans were screaming
about the Olympic spirit a couple
of days ago after the FIN-CZE
game.

I guess this is the SWE Olympic spirit.
buhuu buhuu, let me whipe your tears.

Hand out the dress cloth to Swedish team! It was all too clear, they lost on purpose.

Embarrassing game for the Swedes! That's all I can say about it...

And it's pretty ironic that the highlight of the game (for me personally) was that the Slovak goalie Karol Krizan had a shutout. He plays for my favorite team, so I'm happy for him. Actually, at the end when the game was basically over, I was really hoping that Sweden wouldn't score a meaningless late period goal. ;)

Come on, Lidström hit the post once. We tried to score. :D

How's Tellqvist been? He seemed really excited to be going to the Olympics to represent his country.

Unfortunately, this game isn't being broadcast in Canada.

Poor, poor Tellqvist. He was so good that he was the biggest threat to BAG's gameplan. :biglaugh:

Just saw the highlights.. Gaborik flew hard into the boards on that breakaway, guess that happens when you have such wheels, hope he's ok.

naaah that was Lubos Bartecko...no Gaborik...

Sigh, what an awful performance by the Swedish team. I don't think they threw the match but they didn't spend much energy on winning either. I can understand that they would give a poor performance even if they tried their best. How can you find the motivation when you know that winning puts you in a much worse spot than if you don't give it your best. But in the end, it would have been a whole lot better if they had played at 100%, nevermind that it might've meant a tougher opponent, it's not only about getting medals and neither Canada or Czech has been looking too impressive. I'm not even looking forward to the Switzerland match right now, I believe Sweden will win the match but even if we eliminate Switzerland, it won't feel right.

How is that different from the lousy game the Finns played against Germany? You didn't have antyhing to play for, it would be stupid to go 100% and be tired tomorrow. Same with Sweden, didn't have ANYTHING to play for. If they would have won it would have been the Czechs or Canadians in the quarter, ooh that sounds like fun, I bet the Finns would trade their USA game to play the Russians instead, just for fun? 2nd off It would have been stupid to give 100% in a game that didn't mean anything when we have a quarter final to play tomorrow that actually is IMPORTANT! Yay, give 100% in meaningless games and choke in the playoffs, thats the OLD Swedish melody...now when they have the priorities different people still ***** about it?

The Slovaks sucked in the game last night aswell, they didn't try either. Blaim the system instead of the teams using the system.

And the Swedes cheering for Switzerland is just plain fools who aren't worth living in this country, pathetic!

""We always play to win games," forward Daniel Sedin said. "If you play for Sweden, you want to win games. It doesn't matter what you're playing for."

This is why I like the tournament format of WJC. Group winner qualifies directly to semis, so teams are always trying to play their best.
With this system, the preliminary groups will be much more exciting. Now, top 7 Nations are almost locked for quarterfinals.

I'm not impressed with the game, but I'm not ashamed. This only proves that the current layout of the tournament is bad. Let the first and second placed team in each group pick their opponent next time, and maybe the games will matter a bit more.

Swedes think honesty is more important than winning the tournament. Idiots.

It's not like russia or Finland spent huge amount of energy on winning their games yesterday. The diffrence is that they have been much better teams than Sweden have so far.

the difference is that sweden tried much less hard than all the other teams. other teams maybe gave 60-70%, but sweden 40%. and, the coach had basically said they want to lose.
i like sweden, of course, but that game makes it much harder to pull for them. if suisse win, that's OK.
