I want the Fins to win but the hit on Ruutu was one of the few things the ref got right in that period but every call that could have gone either way has favoured the Americans.

Finland has avergaed only 4 penalties per-game prior to this game, the least penalised team in the tournament. Interesting ot see how many little calls go against Finland before U.S. gets even a single penalty. :sarcasm:

The US got better as the period went on. They started playing more physically, started forechecking, and outplayed Finland during the last half of the period. DiPietro has got to get it together, though, and fast. He hurt us in that period, and we need him to be on of our biggest strengths to even have a chance. Big PP to start the period here.

Yeah. But this has happened pretty much in every play-off against either the US or Canada over the years. There's never a Euro ref calling a Finland vs. US/Canada game. Forgive us for being a little paranoid but we've been through this before.

Are you still cying about that hit poor rutuu took? the hack had the puck (end of story) also rutuu should expect that kind of action since he ran the goalie in the first 5 minutes of the game.(He earned it)
We're not crying about Ruutu getting hit. Go ahead, hit him in the head all you want, decapitate him with your skate if you wish. But the ref should be calling despite all of that; if the ref's not blowing because Ruutu "earned" it, then we're ****ed.

The US should be happy to be only down by one after that awful first 10 minutes. They couldn't even handle the puck, like their sticks were coated with butter or something.

US has played with great discipline, it led to some scoring chances for Finland but kept them out of the box. Has Finland been setting up their offensive zone attacks with moving picks all tournament, not sure about international rules but I have seen plenty of borderline interference in the neutral zone as they are attacking.

A Finnish Wings fan? They are like completely Swedish...

Yes a finnish Wings fan, despite them never having a Finnish guy in the roster. Lidström is simply awesome and I just can't hold it against him that he's swedish. Holmström is one of the best players ever to stand in front of the goal heh and it's the same thing for him. The main reason though is Stevie Y, Coffey, Konstantinov, Larionov, Dino and so on and so on. When I first saw them play back when I was a kid, I liked their style straight away, been a fan ever since..

Anyhow...Ruutu did not deserve the penalty this time, he did deserve it from the Jagr hit however.

Except Knuble got a minor penalty (coincidental with Mikko Koivu, I believe).

Saku used to take those kinds of penalities with us lately, I hoped he would lost that habit over there....guess not....

God I hope Finland wins, if for nothing else then because of all the arrogant Americans out there.

Finns have been equal arrogant and that is something what I am not used to. I don`t like it at all.

And there is no reason to complain about the refs, when Finland is playing this bad.

Since alot of you ignored the first warning, this will be the last warning. Anymore flaming/trolling in this thread will result in warning points.

Byebye semis for Finland... Coming from behind on the US has always been incredibly hard for Finland. The US are a team who can shoot high stickside, I haven't seen the game, but I presume at least one of the goals have gone somewhere there, as it is every undersized butterfly's weak point.
