These guys didn't watch the games lol. How many games in a row did the Leafs hold Ottawa to 1 or 2 shots through 2nd and 3rd periods? I'm really excited for this game tonight to see the reactions for how some thought it was going to go

You think that multiple times in the Maple Leafs/Senators series the Leafs held the shots to 1 or 2 shots though to the third period?

Have you been exposed to paint fumes or something?

He looks like a baseball coach sending signals to the first base runner.

I've said Maurice is a good coach since his time with the Jets. He also coached the Leafs if anyone forgets. If they make the playoffs that first year (he missed the playoffs by a point), maybe his career takes a different trajectory.

It's funny how things work out I suppose.

Everyone referencing(media mostly) the series from 2 years ago is completely out to lunch.

For starters, that Panthers got much better the following year, and that is who they are mostly.

The Panthers team from 2 years ago got insane goaltening from Bob, and he's the only reason they went to the finals.

The Panthers from the year after that is completely different beast and very good team.

Leafs are different from that team 2 years ago as well.

Should be a good series.

....puts the needle on the record....
And brings a speaker to the door of the Panthers dressing room and stands there looking in while the music plays...

Yup. People want to underplay it but the moment Bob shat the bed, Florida got thrashed. No coincidence that dropping their shots against by 41% (from league worst to 3rd best) and not relying completely on a goalie brought them to the Cup. Hopefully Vegas Bob shows up, now that the rest know what it takes.

McCabe and Rielly were on that roster but now let's see how they do with Berube's system including Tanev, OEL, Carlo and Benoit on D instead of the gift of Keefe's system with Brodie, Liljegren, Holl and Giordano.
I get the want to reference the 2023 series but I think it's a non starter for me.

The Leafs are different, yes, but so are the Panthers.

You can't just brush aside that team had freaking Colin White and Zac Dalpe on the roster....as well as Eric and Marc Staal. I mean, come the freaking on man lol.

The Panthers had to play in way to even out the talent deficiency as 2023 was a RE-TOOL year for us. People forget this, we literally had no cap space and we had to shop at the dollar tree to round out the roster.

Verhaeghe Barkov Duclair
Cousins (lol) - Bennett - Tkachuk
Loustarinen - Lundell - Reinhart
Colin White (lol) - E. Staal- Dalpe

Forsling Ekblad
M. Staal - Montour
Mahura - Gudas

Yes the Leafs are different now, but take a look at that line up we iced lol.

The 2023 series is a relic by now. That roster overachieved and was CARRIED by Bobrovsky hard.

We didnt need Bob to carry us in 2024 and we dont need Bob to carry us in 2025. If we need him to carry us, then the roster is underperforming.

Did it make it a difference when FLA won in 5 though?

If you are talking about the Tampa series it isn't 2022 I think most would agree the Leafs are currently better then Tampa.

If you are talking about the 2023 series that was 2 years ago the roster is about 50% different

And the coaching staff is 100% different.

I voted Leafs in 6 but personally I think this goes 7

I agree the Panthers have some different players on the team also and I fully expect a 7 game series

This is why I say you guys don't even watch the games.

Game 4 they held the Sens to 0 shots in the third until the first shot tied the game ~3 min left.

Game 5 they held the Sens to 4 shots COMBINED in the 2nd and 3rd period

Stolarz saved 0.1 goals above expected. He was good in that series, but he was arguably worse than his regular season, which means he could have more to give.

They also averaged ~2 PP opps per game after game 1, and in recent seasons are consistently one of the worst in the league at drawing penalties (whereas the Panthers were 4th in PP opps this season).
Nobody in the world would ever accuse the Leafs of being favoured by the league.

The panthers however…. Yikes

To be the best, you've gotta' beat the best.

... Who am I kidding, I'm ready to be hurt again.

No sense in being hurt if the leafs don’t win this series. They’re heavy dogs and no one expects them to win.

However …. The only way this team has left to actually hurt us is to make the final and come up short.

At least 5 hours till puck drop, maybe more since we have to do both anthems. Lol
Close. It was after the double-minor high-stick to Bennett with :37 left in Game 1. The penalties were 4-1 Florida after that call, 5-1 if your factor in it was 4:00 to Bennett.

I think the Panthers were the second most penalized team in 2022-23, so it's really not surprising, given the style they play.
Ah yes, couldn’t remember. We’ve been the most penalized or close ever since I believe.

I say this in respect Leaf fans (and in Jest). They need to go all in for Rogaine. Matthews is losing his hair and it might be gone after this series.

Hair on Matthews head brings swag confidence and a guaranteed extra 15 more goals in the regular season. It'll cost a 3rd rounder.
Love to see you here! Can we count on the support of your cats again?
