With Laakso out it's really gonna be a Bergeron - Crosby show. He has been Fin's best d-man apparently.

7-1

Canada: Cros (2), Bergeron, Perry, Dawes, Stewart, McCarthur
Finland: Joenssu

CAN POTG: Crosby
FIN POTG: Rask - comes in midway and slams the door on Canada.

(Edit-Typo)

It's not a must win for Canada. They are into the playoffs no matter what, quarter-final or semi, it doesn't matter. Even if they lose and Slovakia beats Sweden, then it's a 3 way tie and it will go to goals for and against. Canada would come out on top no problem.

It's a must win or tie.

Do you really want to play that extra playoff game?

If Canada loses, Finland takes first place in the grouping and Canada has to play an extra elimination game.

I sure as hell don't want that, and you know the Canadian squad doesn't want that either.

Thus it's essentially a must win attitude for this team right now.

And since this tournament format has been played, no team that has not gotten the bye has won the championship. It is not necessarily essential to get it, but the past speaks for itself. getting the bye to the semi's is only a benefit for the team, they don't want to be forced to play another playoff game which could result in elimination. They would also love to have Richards have a few more days off to rest along with other guys who I am sure have bumps and bruises at this point.

Crosby will be short shifted and given little icetime. He will go scoreless.

Not likely. Sutter will be running their 4 lines out there on a regular shift for each. He'll get just as much ice as he did in the game against the Swed's when he sat for long periods of time due to the penalty trouble they were in. He may not get as much PP time if they are up by 5 or 6, other then that, things won't be any different.

Well he didn't get much icetime against the Swedes .The penalty trouble thing
is a poor excuse.Plenty of ways around that.Anyway he is not going to keep scoring 2 goals a game with the amount of icetime he's getting and especially the
short shifts.

I don't know about the audio, but TSN offers a live update on their World Juniors page.

4-1 Canada. Finns score first if Canada takes them too lightly. Any word on who starts for Finland yet? I thought Hallikainen played pretty well in the exhibition.

NO!!!! I've heard he's been one of our best D'sin this tournament. Damn it!!! :banghead:

Yeah, so I've heard from my "online friends" who've been watching the games there in the States. Apparently the stats don't tell you everything.

Well, we can only hope that Finland goes to the quarter finals and further and Laakso's injury goes away before the tournament's over (or they'll let him play with local anesthesia like in the last U18 WJC with his groin/thigh injury... I don't know if this one's worse than that).

What happened to him? What is his status?
