5-2 Canada. I think the Finns can score on the powerplay.

The Finns should adjust well. Playing a team the second time around is always very difficult.

The Finns are much better than the slovaks, Sweds and Germans.

finns got beaten by slovakia...what makes you feel they are "much better" then slovakia? :dunno:

That's true, but one could then again ask why you think Canada would have more problems with Finland than with Slovakia. Or can one say that Belarus is really a better team than USA, 'cos they one.

Not saying that Finland is better than Slovakia, 'cause I think the slovaks are better this year, but it isn't that black and white.

Same argument as usa beat russia, russia beat belarus, belarus beat usa....
ooo....i didn't see the connection before
thanks for sharing your arguments

3-1 Canada.
Finland will play a strong disciplined checking game that will challenge Sutter, but the Finns won't have an answer for Crosby and Bergeron.

Belarus will come in and save the day giving Canada the win.

6-2 Canada

Dawes, Stewart, Perry, Crosby, Syvret, Carter

Makkonen, Korpikoski

7-1 Canada.

I just don't see Coach Sutter letting these guys do anything but come out hard for 60 minutes. Canada knows it gets a bye with a win, so they will come out flying to control their own destiny. I am sure that Sutter has also reminded them of what just happened to the US last night when they took a day off. When you combine that with the fact that Finland won the game that meant the most to them in the round robin, this game will be a steep uphill battle for their young team from a mental point of view so soon after that big emotional win.

They're finally showing this game on TV in Finland. Very nice to see Canada's future stars in action. There's no way Finland could beat Canada in this tournament, but it's still an interesting game with some open questions. Can Canada score 10 goals? Can Finland score 1? Who's gonna get humiliated in the net, Rask or Hallikainen?

In all seriousness, I know these games aren't played on paper, but it would just be too big of a miracle if we won. I'd be happy if we scored once or twice and wouldn't get beaten too badly, 5-1 or 6-1 to Canada would be nice. On the other hand, I hope Finnish team has a good confidence from game against Sweden so anything can happen. Anyway, I'm placing my hope on Slovakia.

Finns must be careful and keep the game close and MAYBE win it, but otherwise if Sweden wins and the Finns lose, then they are out!

If Finland can keep Canada back for 1.5-2 periods, they might actually have a shot. We all know what Canadians are like when they're not winning.

ummm, USA got lucky against Russia if you watched the game and yes, I think Belarus is better than the USA! :lol

6-2 Canada sounds like a good result.

Team Canada has to be careful here though, Finland is going to be coming in on a real high after that comeback win against Sweden.

But on the other hand, this is a must win game for Canada, and Sutter should have these boys up to the test.

5-2 Canada. Finns will be tired emotionally and physically after the come from behind victory against Sweden, though their confidence level will be higher too. Anyways, the team simply lacks the talent to manage an upset against this years team Canada, and they are too young too.

Makkonen and Nokelainen for Finns.
Crosby, Bergeron x 2, Phaneuf, Getzlaf for Canada.

As I said, it will be the first real test for Canada.

Canada's 3 previous opponents have won a combined 2 bronze medals since 1995 (Sweden '95, Slovakia '99). Finland, has won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in that span!

5-1 Canada

Stewart, Getzlaf, Crosby, Belle, Carter

Joenssu

If Korpikoski/Nokelainen/Tukonen are still playing on the same line they should get used to Shea Weber and Dion Phaneuf. However, I am not certain that they are not on the same line seeing as I haven't seen them play a game since exhibition. But if they are, it would be a safe bet that Weber and Phaneuf would be out there against them at all times.

True, but unfortunately this particular Finnish age group has sucked a** in the U18 tourneys: they placed 7th both in 2003 and 2004. So, I am not very optimistic about their chances against the best ever Canadian age group... :(

I do hope for a moderately tight game though. Lop-sided massacres are pretty boring to watch. So, hopefully the Finnish goalie will be on top of his game today.

6-2 Canada,

and I do hope to see Perry put one home. It would be nice to have all three of that line scoring as we enter the medal round.

It's not a must win for Canada. They are into the playoffs no matter what, quarter-final or semi, it doesn't matter. Even if they lose and Slovakia beats Sweden, then it's a 3 way tie and it will go to goals for and against. Canada would come out on top no problem.
