We're not even trying for f***'s sake! Disgusting. Now I'm beginning to hope that Swedes will go to quarter finals.

I have to take it back a little bit. I was pretty pleased with the end of the third period. At least we tried. Canada stopped playing of course, but still...

Interesting to see how Russia and/or USA will do against Canada. I think they have to be able to play their best game if they want to have a chance. We'll see.

Three more games are going to be broadcasted in Finland including one quarterfinal, one semifinal and the final, even if Finland doesn't play. :handclap:

Are they the actual 3 stars? Also, could someone give me a point total for Carter and Richards? I'm too lazy to look. Thanks

Both had excellent games.

Carter 3 Goals
Richards 1 Goal 1 Assist

Oh, Finland managed to score after all. Well, probably didn't miss much anyway.

After the Slovakia game and this 'performance', I can't say that I hope Finland will get to the quarter finals. The team just isn't ready for this level of play.

Two years ago we didn't have Bouwmeester, Spezza Weiss or Blackburn because of the NHL

last year we didn't have Nash, Bouchard, Staal, Horton..

either way I see your point.. and it's a good one

but who off of the other teams would also not be here? Ovechkin? Others?

This should not make much of a difference between teams - just this year's tournament should be that much better overall. It doesn't explain why the Candian Junior team is so strong this year.

Yes it does. Canada loses way more players to the NHL than any other team.
Remember what happened the other year there was a lockout.

from Canada: Getzlaf, Bergeron, Phaneuf, Stewart, and Coburn, at least. I'd say that's a considerable difference.

You may be right in terms of raw numbers, but each team this year should have the elite levels, so unless what you are saying is that that Canada is always better than the other countries, this should balance out. The results, and for that matter the "stars" entering the NHL, don't bear that out - unfortunately. As much as I cheer for Canada, and thought this year's team would have to beat itself for someone else to win, I don't think we own the game to that extent anymore.

That 1995 team did have to come from behind to beat the Czechs 7-5 and both Sweden and Finland only lost 4-3 and 6-4 so it wasn't as if they rolled over every team. So far this team has just blown every team that they played right out of the building. Even though the Finns and Swedes may not be as good this year back to back 8-1 victories against them is probably unheard of. Maybe the teams in the other pool will give them some competition, but as of right now they look down right frightening.

I agree that this is a huge difference to our team - but who would be gone from the other teams and how much weaker would they look without them?

Somehow, looking at the numbers in the Finland - Canada game makes me feel a little bit better about Sweden's performance so far.

This Canadian team has to be completly sick, I wish I could see some of the games.. :shakehead

It went just as I expected. Although I didn't think it would be by this large margin. :shakehead
Team Canada was stronger, faster and simply better in everything.
We played quite well in the first 10 minutes and in the 3rd period.

Well, congrats to Team Canada.

The Canadian team is sick.

There's no team that really stands a chance, including Russia and the US.

Even though the Finns and Swedes may not be as good this year

Sweden has had severe problems with their junior program for years now, and this Finnish age group is the worst in many years.

But that doesn't take away from the Canadian team. I think it is the best junior team that you have fielded thus far. It is unfortunate though, that some of the other teams (i.e. measuring sticks) are so weak this year. Means less interesting tourney in general.

Thats nice, because I'd rather see Canada win the gold than the US or Russia. I hope sweden can beat the Slovaks with a fair margin tonight so that we can test our strength against Russians, Czechs or whatever it will be.

Hopefully we see the Swedish WJC team improve soon... this sucks.

The Finns are going to be really good next year, especially if Nokelainen, Korpikoski, and Tukonen can come back.

We'll see, but I'm certainly hoping for it. At least they can't be worse than this year anyways :)
And I think all three of them can come back as they are 86 class.
