Canada 8 - Crosby(2), Carter(2), Bergeron, Getzlaf, Barker, MacArthur
Finland 0

Let`s take a look at Canada`s previous games
CAN 7- SVK 3
CAN 8 - SWE 1
CAN 9 - GER 0

There is a clear pattern which shows that Canada every time scores one more goal than in a previous game. So it`s easy to perdict that Canada will score 10 goals :dunce: Finland will get one lucky.....so
Canada 10 Finland 1

I'm guessing Hallikainen will get the start. I like what would seem to be Finland's form right now compared to their previous games except for the apparent situation that the players are tired. The strong Canadians will probably wear them down by the third period. I expect them to put up a valiant fight and a competitive effort before that, though.

They're finally showing this game on TV in Finland. Very nice to see Canada's future stars in action. There's no way Finland could beat Canada in this tournament, but it's still an interesting game with some open questions. Can Canada score 10 goals? Can Finland score 1? Who's gonna get humiliated in the net, Rask or Hallikainen?

In all seriousness, I know these games aren't played on paper, but it would just be too big of a miracle if we won. I'd be happy if we scored once or twice and wouldn't get beaten too badly, 5-1 or 6-1 to Canada would be nice. On the other hand, I hope Finnish team has a good confidence from game against Sweden so anything can happen. Anyway, I'm placing my hope on Slovakia.

Finland have one weapon for this game and it´s called Sisu.
But anyway, Canada wins 5-1.

I think so too. But Rask is still number one, I quess? They just need to give him some rest. This is pretty far-fetched, but let's speculate... What if Finland actually wins the game? That would propably mean that Hallikainen played the best game of his entire career. Could, or should, Rask get another chance or should we play our hot goalie in the quarter-finals? Tough one. Ok, I know we might as well be playing against relegation, but it's still fun to speculate.

If we win Canada with Hallikainen, would change the goalie for our next game? Hell no! There is no valid reason to change a goalie, which lead us to victory against Canada!

Seeing it this way, I'll still say that Rask will be in the net for us in the quarterfinals.

I almoust had forgot that :innocent: Today it`s a great tv hockey day. First Saku Koivu`s first game in Finland for ten years :handclap: and then Canada-Finland :handclap:

You wrote almoust the same what I was thinking. My first "predict" (10-1) was just a throw. What I was really thinking is that maybe Canada is too much for our team, but the confidence our little lions got from getting past Sweden in the third period must be huge. So I am looking our boys to play relaxed game with good confidence but also fighting hard. Also enjoy while playing cause they have almoust nothing to lose, because Canada is that clear favourite. Goals for Canada from 4 to 6 and for Finland from 1 to even 3. That is how I see it.

5-2 Canada. I think the Finns can score on the powerplay.

The Finns should adjust well. Playing a team the second time around is always very difficult.

The Finns are much better than the slovaks, Sweds and Germans.

Team Canada is just unbelievable. Only a miracle is needed to win them with this material. I think it's going to be a loss for Team Finland but not as much that has been preditected. I think it's going to be about 3-4 goals margin to the powerful Team Canada. Let's say 5-1 to Team Canada.

I don't know why, I've got a feeling it's going to be closer than usual.

4-2 Canada

Because of the Fact Finland played a game the day before, on top of that, a killer game, which every player had to put in extra effort, energy, work etc, i say they are kinda burned out. Canada is just gonna run em over. It be calm and cool after the 1st 10 minutes then Canada's hitting will wear out those trapping fins good time, and Canada takes over.

7-0 Canada. If the Fins manage to score a goal, it be on a powerplay.

Thats an excellent point. I almost forgot that finland exhausted all their energy with that great comeback against the swedes. To now play a back to back game against a well rested and always determine Team Canada will be very difficult. I like your prediction but I could still see a powerplay goal for the finns.

I agree. Though at the moment I don't know which of them to trust. Apparently Rask was bad against Sweden (?) and I don't like the idea of going to quarter-finals with him having such a bad last game. But I don't see Hallikainen making difference either, especially if Canada humiliates him tonight. IMO the best thing would be that Hallikainen played a really REALLY good game against Canada (even if we don't win) and then let him play the rest of the tournament. (Assuming he even plays tonight and that we even get to quarter-finals, of course). Otherwise Rask would be the better option.

Yeah, that's great. I can't think of any player in the world that would get average finnish hockey fans more excited than Saku. I think he alone will bring hundreds or maybe even thousands of spectators to the games. I really hope he plays well or maybe even dominates the league. We need super stars. It's a tough situation for me btw, I hate TPS but I just can't hate Saku :)

Interesting stuff from Veikkaus web pages... If you bet 10-1 for Canada, you only get your money back 59,07 times at the moment. Then again 6-5 for Finland would give a ratio of 945,17. I guess that says it all.
