GDT: GDT #70 New York Islanders vs Columbus Blue Jackets | March 24th | 7:30 PM | F/SOL 4-3

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I wasn’t even going to post because I am so angry but that call was absolute dog shit. I watch a lot of hockey every night, not just the Isles and I have never saw a team get goals reviewed almost every single night like it happens with us. AT LEAST KEEP THE CALLS CONSISTENT!!!!! JOKE ASS LEAGUE

Maybe it just feels that way, but seems like we get a LOT of goals checked,

Default position surely should be a goal. And onus on officials to prove otherwise. That rubbish about it being inconclusive is just pathetic
Pretty clear from replay CLB goalie comes out of crease and clips palms skate which causes him to go off balance slightly and that’s what causes everything. It’s 100% on CLB goalie. Wild that’s not a goal. Shocked TO doesn’t turn that over. Ineligible receiver downfield.

Agreed on all your points. That was a garbage call on the ice to wave off the goal. And I almost busted a blood vessel when Duclair took the first shot in the shootout. How does Roy not use Holmstrom?
He never shot the puck…he did show why he’s on his 9th team in 11years though.

Let's not forget that game last season when the refs blew play dead and the other team scored after the whistle. Toronto reviewed it and okayed goal as they said ref shouldn't have blown play dead. Thereby ignoring the most fundamental rule in almost every sport, that you play to the whistle.
Toronto just hands out decisions that suit it, they don't give a fat rat's arse about consistency or fairness.

That call last night just cannot happen.

CANNOT. HAPPEN.

Especially because they had a 2nd chance to get it right. In situations like that you have to interview the ref and get him to comment publicly on why he made that call initially. That was the entire problem. If he lets the goal go Columbus would challenge (because with 8 seconds left they have nothing to lose), and then they could always correct it the other way.

No doubt in my mind that in the quiet corners of the NHL "ref world" he knows he blew it, and the NHL and ref community are probably letting him know it.
It all sucks, but bigger picture...Don't let your season come down to the refs.

there is no fix. was is a bad call sure it was not the best. Be better as a team and you wont have to worry about bad calls.
Really?
Explain game 7 Against Tampa when they scored with too many men on the Ice and Won...
I still cannot figure that one out.
As for last night, When Montreal Benefits, Look Out! The NHL Works their magic then...

Tough one to swallow.

The goals against were bad, and everything was sooooo under control with that 2-0 lead after 1.

Didn't need to pull Columbus back into it like they did.

Then that end came.

And you knew right away that we'd drop this thing in OT/the shootout once that GW didn't count. The hockey Gods were not gonna allow THAT goal to not count only to let us win in OT.

I felt CBJ had some really poor spurts of play and that Merzlikins was totally beatable. As usual, if you don't put in your gobs of chances early in the game, it comes back to bite you in the arse.

Precisely. This should be plastered on the foreheads of some people here.

Maybe if we SUCKED LESS, we wouldn't be in a position that a bad call at the end of March is resulting in an uproar. Call was wrong on the ice and the structure of what Toronto can do in replays, cemented in the incorrect call.

Look closer at your own team as to why we lost.

So it was okay that all those dudes on the Titanic jumped past the women and children to get into the lifeboats, because the captain never should've hit the iceberg?
