This is how Cup teams win.
They also win by having a competent power play. Not this bunch of monkeys trying to hump a football.

Management is fighting this real hard but Ish has to be the next call up. Otto is a liability. If not Ishikov then call up Chris Terry.
I’m not sure if they can call up Terry. I think he’s on an AHL vets contract.

Iskhakov is the answer to PP1. Yes, the answer has been sitting in Bridgeport all year long. :sarcasm:

Big win.

Happy to see Holmstrom and Durandeau play well. Especially Durandeau, who was a late pick and worked hard to get to the NHL. If he can keep it up, he should stick.

Martin has really stepped up, especially after last season. I guess the ankle has healed. Although I still don't understand why he wasn't rested last year when it was clear he was hurt? Somebody should have made that call, even if they had to make it for him.

Horvat has been great and does all of the little things well. He is made for hockey in the Metro and East.

Sorokin is a monster.

When Bailey is healthy, he can take Durandeau's spot in Bridgeport. Help them make their playoffs push.

I wish Otto could find another gear, but he just doesn't look like an NHLer. He is just plodding in terms of skating and reactions.

Great win

however we still do bad against fast heavy forechecking teams and that is where adjustments will be made and have to be made if we make the playoffs. A lot of times their defense stepped right in front of our wingers and stole the puck. The wingers did a terrible job of getting position so there wasn't a chance to do that. It was a win but a sloppy win. The kids (except Otto), Parise, Sorokin, and Horvat played a hell of a game.

Romanov needs to focus on breaking out and his game actually won't be too bad. He is fine most of the time defensively. If he cleans it up a bit as he is only 23 years old? then we might have a player. Otherwise he has had too many turnovers and when he isn't set is when he looks bad.

Otto was ok I thought. Bad penalty late but he, Durandeau and Holmstrom seemed to understand each other well on the ice. But what do I know??? ha ha
My young fella said Aho and Pulock would score, and I said Holmstrom, so we were both kinda right! LOL

Really like Durandeau's game. Works his butt off
He has pretty good decision making too, but I think the Jets might have made things a bit too easy on him. The penalty call on him was a bad joke.

Lee, Horvat, and Pelech were NYI's best skaters all night. (Lee made some excellent defensive plays throughout, Horvat took over the 3rd period).

The player who stood out to me in a negative way was Dobson. Weak reaching stick plays, not working for body position, just the appearance of being lazy throughout. I did not like his game at all last night. Yeah there are other guys who were bad (or they have persistent weaknesses, like Mayfield revsersing the puck to the side with only Jets), but I don't expect them to be good.

I think Schiefele's insistance on making a spin pass to the back door every single time got predictable af. Yes it worked the first time, but he did it over and over and over ffs. He'd make me want to rip my hair out. Otoh, would absolutely love to have a winger like either Conor or Ehlers.

Not breaking any ground here, but Morrissey (unlike the singer) has gotten so much better with experience.

Hellebuyck is big, but he's not as good as Ilya.

He's earned himself another game.

I've enjoyed his game whenever I've gotten a chance to see it. He's the type of player that I would've liked to have seen get integrated into the lineup a couple years ago when Martin and Clutterbuck were re-signed. He brings a little more speed to the lineup.

Snow et al. draft picks in 2017 are making their mark on this team. No first round pick that year but Salo, Aho, and Durendeau have all made the big club at some point in their careers and they appear to have made an impact. The Isles Quebec scout was particularly high on Durendeau and fought hard to take this kid where they landed him in the draft.

Except Snow would've brought them up to the NHL a few years ago and they'd be playing in Europe or beer leagues (or European beer leagues) by now....

Snow... My god. Still bringing up this sack of shit?

Yes a great win indeed. Hope they keep it up. Phenomenal that they are doing this missing some of their top players and calling up AHL players to fill in their spots. Maybe this team’s younger prospects are no so bad and they have a deeper farm system than some thought. Makes me wonder who else they have down there. I do think however that’s it’s time they part ways with Koivula. Never been impressed with this player. Doesn’t seem to do much but takes a skate on the ice his shift then sits back down on the bench. Hit something, back check, make an assist, a goal maybe. Nope. He just skates then sits down.

He's an AHL player. No need to part ways, we need AHL players too.

Thought the same thing. Especially during the closing minutes.
absolutely!.....awesome to see them bottle up the neutral zone and make entries as difficult as possible. kudos to Lane for shortening the lineup the last 10 minutes recently. in this regard, Bailey being out and Horvat being a beast is really showing great dividends

6 hits for him last night....gotta give the kid credit for playing with that George Jetson contraption on his face. he's a tough guy....he's been dinged up and worse in several instances and has missed very little ice time....total admiration for that!
