The most benign read on Sorokin's night is that even he knows Lou has to go and is doing his part to help that process along. Personally, I appreciate that kind of selflessness.

4 more games after this until the deadline. Kinda feel like the writing is on the wall. Love Nelson and everything he’s done as an islander but it’s time to think about asset management and doing what’s right for the franchise.

Nelson and Palmieri should 100% be traded. Pageau as well.

Nor trading these guys would be an injustice to the franchise.

So not going to be popular, but as much as one can fault Sorokin for this game, in the big picture he's really been pretty stellar this year. The stretch before the tourney he was playing out of his damn mind and the only reason we probably won those games.

It seems like every goalie, even the elite ones, have some bad/stretches and games. Modern goaltending is a strange thing, and it's hard to predict. So many of the top goalies in the game will have a great stretch, then crap out. It seems what makes them so good is the ability to steal any games. You have Vezina caliber goalies that just fall off.

I think he's still in the conversation as one of the top 5-10 goalies in the league. That's also what makes it so frustrating when he does struggle. I'm still fine with the contract. It's definitely league wide though, seeing what happened to Swayman, Ullmark, Korpisalo, etc.

This is exactly why you don’t give him and 8 year contract… and sorry but I don’t think he has been stellar this year. He had a nice run over 15 games but to say he has been stellar is a huge stretch for me. Hogberg looked better then him in his short stretch.
