GDT: GDT #50 New York Islanders @ Philadelphia Flyers | January 30th | 7:30 PM | HULU/ESPN+ Only | F/W 3-0

Palms interview a little odd if anyone caught that. “Just trying to keep this thing going”

Some higher ambitions I’d like. But gotta be hard with all the impending trades offers for him and Brock

I can’t believe they’re doing this again! I was so ready to give up, but they’re again impressing with their resilience

My niece (born 1/21/25) has not witnessed and Isles loss. The tank crowd can blame her lol

Was at the two home games vs Flyers and don't think I saw that amount of goal hanging since I was playing roller hockey as a kid in the 80s.. (don't even think I have used that term in ages).. Michkov chief offender, saw him floating back on multiple occasions outside of zone while they were on D..I know he. has talent but can't keep doing that.

I know he was in the zone and vacated his position on the Holmstrom goal but seems to be an issue with him.

good for us.

They really are looking much better, can’t see them being sellers if they keep this up.I’d still like to see them move Nelson for someone with term or pieces they could move to bring in someone with term.

I think it would be counterproductive to overplay Sorokin; going to have to give him one of the B2B off, even if that means playing Skarek
I don't disagree, but given Roy has already played his goalie in b2b this year, and we have the break coming up. I would not be surprised if Sorokin plays at least one of the b2b's. We have another one next weekend too, right before the break. I don't want to see Skarek but we may see him in at least one of the b2bs. .

edit: in his post game Roy said Skarek will play but did not commit to whether or not he will play this weekend in one of the b2b's .

Team leading 28 minutes for Tony D tonight, anyone miss Dobson?
Dobson directly cost the team about 6-8 points early in the season with his boneheaded defense. Looking at the standings, that puts the isles already in the WC.

So, no, Dobson somehow brings offense, but he’s a waif defensively.

Could/should he be traded? Sure, he’s not THAT special. His defense is crap.

Could/should he be resigned? Luckily, his gaffes and injuries derailed his season and his price tag. Anything over $6.5M p/yr is going to be an awful deal for the team.

Well the flyers trade announced since then pretty well explained why the 3rd period wasn't competitive. In retrospect this is one it would have been embarrassing not to win.

Whoever is scoring, pretty clear that Romanov, Pelech, and Sorokin are nyi's top players at the moment. Pelech looks like Pelech for the first time in 3-4 years.

Sens and Lightning win
Habs and Bruins lose

Close this game out and we climb the ladder more
CBJ and Detroit with wins in OT. So not as far up as it initially looked.

Big weekend with the Florida 2 step. Skarek playing in 1 of those games. Really gotta step it up for that game because Sorokin has been immense

After rewatching Gatcomb's first, I love how the goal developed in the first place. Tsyplakov retrieved the puck in our D zone and immediately curled back with some pace and pushed the puck forward to MacLean at the Flyers blue, while the Flyers went for a change and caught them with their pants down, allowing Gatcomb to rush to the net for that beauty finish. If Tsyplakov takes his time settling that puck down or passes to the D to maintain possession, that play does not happen.

Pace, pace, pace. That's how Roy wants to play the transition game.

At least. He is dreadful and puts a real strain on his partner. DeAngelo may not be a rock back there but at least he can retrieve pucks and start a breakout. His history says he should be a 50 point guy. If the PP/Barzal issue got addressed who knows. 1.5 - 2mil per for DeAngelo vs 7plus for Dobson. Hmmm
