GDT #44 New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers | January 16th | 7:30 PM | F/L 5-3

I won't pretend to know enough about running an NHL team to make definitive statements on Lou. I don't have a strong opinion on him.
But I will say this.
He's 80-plus. It's a demanding job that needs a long-term plan, and quite possibly a fresh approach under a new set of eyes. It seems very unusual to have someone of that age in that sort of position, in any sport anywhere in the world. It just feels bizarre, for both parties.

Almost as unusual has having 75-plusers leading the free world. :sarcasm:

Sorokin will be on most people's lists as well, although you've gotta wonder what the club thinks of Hogberg's capabilities as a back-up combined with whatever timeline the team has for Gamzin (playing KHL hockey) and Gidlöf (playing SHL hockey). Another route could be possible with one of the UFA layovers who'll be available this summer.
Common sense would say that Hogberg is securing his spot on the roster ($775,000) and making Semyon Varlamov waiver fodder if nobody wants to trade for him. Hogberg is going to Wally Pip Varly.

He’s basically the only guy on the team playjng well. Lee as well. They should be studied in a lab.
