By the team NYI re-tools and is ready to contend Sorokin with have 1-2 years left. They’d be better off trading him now for a bigger haul to jump start the re-tool.
Honestly, I think he is overrated so I am not totally against that. If some team was willing to give up a first round pick and young NHL ready Player or top prospect, I would consider it.

No goalie would be decent with this team
Mostly true, but when you are always widely mentioned as one of the top 3-5 goalies in the league, he should occasionally steal games. He very rarely does and most games he gives up 4 or more goals while facing minimal shots. For example, in his last 5 starts he has allowed a combined 20 goals and never faced more than 29 shots, many of the times facing as few as 22-23 shots. This is not like in seasons past where he was facing 40-45 shots every night.

If you put Hellebuyck in the Isles net instead of Sorokin I bet we have at least 4-5 more wins. That is the kind of goalie Sorokin is always compared to but he is not playing on that level.

No time to watch, but was the leafs second goal as ridiculous as it looks on the nhl.com goal tracker?

He’s gotta still be hurt. He’s completely missing from this game.
that wasn't the point... his line has taken 16 shot attempts and the leafs have taken a total of 2. the line has been dominant and he has the assist on the team's only goal.

I agree he looks still at 80% but it's like the 5th time in 7 games that that line has basically allowed no shots against. they've been one of the best in the league at controlling play since they've been put together

I mean. This team has so many fatal flaws and make so many idiotic errors. How is the coach rarely blamed? He clearly can't get them to just play the percentages
