U:
- Quinn, to the point where I'm wondering if he has some sort of injury
- Cozens can't finish.
I'm wondering if this is some kind of medical condition setback such as Achiiles Tendinitus once he came to camp ?

As for Cozens, I'm just not sure he can adapt or learn a new system, usage, etc And I'm trying to be respectful here.

There's potential here. They're putting in a lot more effort from top to bottom, and they have an edge to their game now. So, that's a nice change.

G - Despite getting away from it in what end up being bad moments sometimes…they’ve started to buy into Lindy’s system

B - Goaltending has been bad

U - sitting on Skinners cap savings when the whole f***ing world knew we needed to add a top six player and now we watch the second line actively hurt us night after night in dire need of help we don’t have. The moment Kubel was put on the second line (briefly, of course) Adams should have been fired. It is beyond unacceptable in year 14 of a f***ing playoff drought that he is hoarding cap space while rotating a rookie, a fourth liner and Krebs into a top six role because a 19 year old is hurt.

Unacceptable and predictable and most of all…cheap. The three trademarks of the Adams era.

Need those cap savings for Jack Quinn’s 2 million dollar extension

Dumb people can learn and adapt, it just takes longer. Not great if you want him to be a center but he can still be a good winger.

Absolutely unsuitable for the first pair and playing with Dahlin, as I always said. Another top 4 D was needed for a long time to play with Dahlin, but Adams decided to do nothing.

Well he did try by trading Mitts for Byram who had played top pair in the playoffs for Colorado at times during their Cup run as a kid. It hasn’t worked the way we wanted but that doesn’t mean he’s done nothing.

Actually it's worked out exactly how anyone paying attention should've known it would: An absolute LOLCOW own goal of a trade that clearly made us worse off.

Rookies fill in all the time for injured players. Are you trying to argue that Benson doesnt belong in the top 6.

That wouldn’t of changed regardless or GM or player; anyone we trade seems destined to take off to their highest potential

Ugly:
3 ex-Sabres in the top 13 NHL scoring

I mean this is just a cruel joke right? We sit through the tanks, the growing pains of watching these guys develop and other organizations get to enjoy these high end players.

The Mittelstadt one especially sucks.

As for the season, to me the team is not bad at all. They are actually probably better than their record. Lindy looks to be a competent coach.

But the performance of individual key players is a real downer. Cozens, Quinn especially are so important to the future of the franchise. Maybe they turn it around, maybe not, but those are 2 guys we all pencilled in as core.

If I was doing performance evaluations........ after 10 games....

Outstanding (superlative showing thus far)
Peterka
Greenway

Exceeds Expectations (better than I thought they would be)
Malenstyn
Power
McLeod
Clifton

Meets expectations (playing at the level expected - for them)
Thompson
UPL
Byram
Kubel

Minimally satisfactory (barely justifying their salary or role)
Zucker
Samuelsson
Dahlin
Lafferty
Levi
Krebs

Unsatisfactory (disappointing performances nearly each and every game)
Quinn
Cozens
Tuch
Jokiharju - he was a disaster vs FLA last night.

Benson: I don't know where to rank him but his injury status leaves me disappointed.
Kulich: I just haven't seen him enough to know what he's brought.
Bryson and Gilbert: Big question marks.

KEEP IN MIND, player rankings are based on subjective assessments based on whether they are playing at, below or above what their relative talent level ranking.

Thompson meeting expectations is a good ranking. But he's not raised his game beyond expectations.

Greenway's play is totally impressive. He dominates physically when he's on the ice.

Dahlin is the most talented player on the team and he's done little to nothing to impress me based on what we all know he is capable of.

Nice post, I personally would bump Jokiharju and Tuch up one level and UPL down one level. Otherwise totally agree.

No, what does Byram have to do with it, especially since he doesn't even play with Dahlin. We needed some experienced guy like Pietro/Weegar/Pesce (that's just an example).

It pisses me off that our defense is mostly young people who should learn on their own, but they had no one to learn from and Adams hasn't done a damn thing for that in almost five years.

Its not about the potential, it is subtracting a 2C for D that is not the right type (another puckmoving LD)
He should have kept the veteran 2C and add a more low key RD vet (or use different assets)
He made the bet that Cozens can be a 2C, it wasn't a smart gamble, especially trading a vet from an already too young and inconsistent team.
This team would be better off having the option to shift Cozens to the wing or have someone else on PP1.

G: Top line, Third line, 4th line when it is Beck Laff Kubel. Shoutout to Krebs for playing solid in his roles. 5v5 production WITHOUT a second line is great.

B: The entire D core. PK, second line production.

U: Dahlin, be better. PP, Quinn. Ruff playing injured players (Benson, Dahlin) and having them look like crap while doing so. PENALTIES.

It is 10 games in, goalies are voodoo. Vasilevsky had like 5 crap games already this season.

Mitts decided he didn't want to resign, and Adams did not want futures, so he probably grabbed the best roster player that is young he could.

Is there any proven source on your claim he didn't want to resign?

Good:

Ruff…there is a system in place, he’s brought an attitude back, and accountability. Early and not fully grasped but much better as a team than the last ten years.

I’ve liked Power, JJ, Tage, Bo, Kulich (small sample but…), Joker, 71, Zucker, Laff and I have to put Krebs in here.

Obviously, I have different expectations/levels for the above, as I do for the bad.

Tuch…he just leaves me wanting more. He seems to just float out there, disengaged. If I were to make a hockey trade, it would be him.

Quinn….wtf happened??? Same with Cozens.

Dahlin has been disappointing but injury and I think he put the weight of the “C” on himself so he’ll be fine eventually.

Under the Sabres gonna Sabres….ie worst thing in the first 10….

The Reimer situation. What a colossal F up. Levi needs to be in the AHL.

All in all, much better, trending upwards and if Cozens n Quinn step up, we could be dangerous

why does Levi need to be in ahl? he looks more amped the upl

the Panthers outplayed us but the team has looked good for the most part under ruff I truly don't understand the sabres as an adjective the sabres I grew up w played hard every night from the 70s until ruff was fired and had the second highest winning percentage in the NHL during that time . is that some snake girl reference

anyway I agree w much of the post but I can't write anyone off til the twenty game mark and guys that aren't scoring have mostly done the little things we'll in a new system

let's see how the group responds to the loss against the Islanders

Oh I agree, but that is targeting the wrong player type; not "not doing anything"

The people bagging on Tuch is interesting. Besides the first 3 games I think he’s been quite good and a catalyst for that line doing the thankless work.

Byram is an addition to the defense, and he's not even a top 4 RD, not a right-hander. I think he might not even be on the team if Samuelsson hadn't gotten injured all these years.

Yeah. I've liked him lately, and I've been a pretty harsh critic of his over the past year.

I also am surprised Power isn't getting more love. Ive only watched 3 or 4 games, but he always impresses.

Man, digging into Moneypucks goals saved above expected is not flattering for either Luukkonen or Levi. Damn.
It's weird, UPL will make a glorious save, then let one in that I'll think 'I wish he had that one'. It took a bit to get going last year, so let's hope he finds his game again. I thought our 1-2 combo would be solid even without Reimer. Though, I do understand the opinion that Levi should be in the A getting more games. To be honest, I may have been wrong here, but I liked the idea of UPL and Levi being 1A/1B this season. It's not panning out so well right now.
