Value of: Gaudreau for Lindholm?

Just curious if both franchises can't get both players signed? Is there anyway we can do a swap?

Is it equal value? Franchise forward for franchise Defenseman.

Anaheim is desperate for wing players. And Flames needs a franchise D as well. Hence the Trouba posts in the other threads by flames being interested.

If both clubs can't make a deal with each player being RFA. Would this value work?

Gaudreau has a lot more value than lindholm, seriously it isn't even close. The only dmen with comparable value may be ekblad and I wouldn't trade gaudreau for him either. Gaudreau is a top 20 nhl player right now, while lindholm isn't a top 20 dmen

also brodie is a franchise dmen or close to it, and hamilton is pretty good. They don't need a dmen they need to keep a guy who might ned up better than iginla for them.

No, it isn't. Gaudreau just put up what was essentially a PPG season. One could argue that he is already, currently a franchise player. I probably would. Lindholm doesn't have that kind of value at this stage. He's still more potential than he is actual franchise defenseman.

Of course, if Anaheim feels that strongly that Lindholm will be that franchise defenseman, I doubt that they would be comfortable making the trade, even if it does favor them currently. A franchise defenseman would be worth more than a franchise winger, but Gaudreau is clearly worth more at this point in time.

No - We need Johnny way more than Lindholm.

Having Gio, Brodie, and Hamilton already locked up makes Lindholm a luxury (and a very nice one!) but not a necessity.

Lindholm is amazing, but Flames would be banking hard on his long-term potential.

Just pay Gaudreau.

Value is irrelevant here. Flames need Gaudreau's offense way more then they need Lindholm's defense, while if the Ducks don't want to pay Lindholm fairly (5.5M-6.5M), why would they want to pay Gaudreau even more (6.5M-7.5M)?

Doesn't seem like much thought was put into this.

That's debateable. Both players are franchise players IMO and by entire fan bases who post on these boards. I was gauging value for value. And if you don't need a defenseman. Why are flames fans doing trade proposals in Trouba trade discussion.

I was merely asking if we could solve both teams troubles that's all.

Closer doesn't mean it's a smart proposal. Anaheim can't even pay Lindholm. We have enough top dmen, and we have no left wing depth. There is zero basis to a trade here.

Defenders are the last thing Calgary needs, while Lindholm is the closest thing we've had to a #1 defender since Niedermayer donned the captaincy. And if we had 8 million to give Gaudreau, I think Lindholm would have been signed long ago.

I dont think its a great basis for a trade; but value-wise, both with no contracts, I think its fair value in a 1-for-1.
