The highest percentage of teams that won the cup won the Presidents' Trophy. Besides losing sleep is one thing. Why the hell would you not want your team to win as many games as possible? And having the best record is something to be proud of. The 2015 team is a memorable team in part because they won the Presidents' Trophy. No they didn't win the cup but having a dominant regular season is never a bad thing.
They were 1 game away from back to back Cup Finals appeared. Injuries got the better of them.

Presidents Trophy is a big accomplishment. Winning an 82 game 32 team 6 month tournament is a big deal, IMO.

Also guaranteed home ice the entire playoffs including the Finals.

Another example of how the NHL is a joke and more irrefutable evidence they intentionally attempt to push certain teams by the calls/non calls they make on the ice.

If they were serious about removing heads hots, they'd punish all head shots. Stop guessing what's going on through another person's head because you can't predict intent. You can only judge the action. And the guy clearly in slow motion high definition swung his body leading with the elbow directly into Gus' head into the boards. With the refs standing right there watching it.

But penalizing and suspending Reinhart doesn't fit the NHL's narrative right now which is push FLA to maintain viability in the region.

Be careful ascribing intentionality where incompetence fits.

If the NHL was that hard up on getting FLA anything, given the NHL's history, it probably would be a hot mic / butt dial incident where Gary called the owner of Vegas to tell him he was guaranteeing a win for Florida thinking he called Florida.

I mean.... Reinhart was falling and turning. Seems more accidental than anything. Don't think it's close to suspension worthy.
Still a head shot. Be responsible for your limbs.

If they're reading the signs of the times to figure out intent on other calls, then call everything. They can't cherry pick and look competent.

Want to remove head shots, then remove them.

They'll go to the tape to review a puck glancing off the glass from every available imaginable angle. Or they'll see a certain name on the back of a jersey that's not a darling team and run them out of the game... all I'm asking for is consistency.

Its the same stupid league that wanted to get rid of ties, so they added penalty shots after OT, but decided not to get rid of the tie point.

It's like fumigating your yard to get rid of pests but leaving the pests inside your house.

This. It was just unfortunate/bad timing that both were bent over horizontally on the boards that way.
If 1 of them is upright, Reinhardt s elbow shouldn’t be near his head….
It could/probably should have been called an accidental penalty at least, but refs smh

BTW, am I crazy or if Panarin shot a one timer more often he might score off it more often than Mika? His accuracy is much better.
No you're NOT crazy, I would prefer that because Mika has been off, but maybe his distribution is better off the way it's been instead of kind of just setting up there all the time? I dunno

Another thing. Panarin should be getting MVP chants from the Garden.

It's a farce if Kucherov wins it. He has Point, Hedman, and Stamkos.

Panarin has Fox and......Laf? Kreider and Zibanejad have been hot ass.
This has to be the dumbest post ever !!!!! I'll let you guys figure out why .

Just rotating players to get everyone ready for the playoffs. It seems like Cuylle, Rempe and Brodzinski, at least, will be part of a rotation. Hopefully Goodrow sits some too.
This makes NO sense if it isn't including the Panarin's, Zibby 's, Kreider 's, Fox's, Trochek's and he'll even k'Andre could use a blow.
Rempe just had many days off, Brodz shouldn't need it, as well as Cuylle. Those guys are young!
This year has been wonderful thus far, but it's been a grind for me.

When it happened I thought Gus was too low for a elbow to be called. Gus definitely got elbowed but since his head was so low I didn't know if the ref could blame the Panther player.

Because if WHO it came from? Lol.

Referring to his comment : Panarin has Fox and .......Laf ?

Because apparently Laf is better than Trocheck
Because Panarin apparently hasn't benefited from playing with Trocheck

Trocheck has been an absolute Monster this year. There is no way that line does what it's been doing without him.

Lavi could say he wants an honest rotation, but this is the time of year where many players are the walking wounded.
Cuylle is also a rookie.
I’d wager it’s to get guys a blow who have been dealing with minor/lingering injuries

The whole feel of the line changed for the better as soon as Trochek was slotted in for Chytil.

Disagree, been in those types of moments, what he was trying to do was make sure Gus wasn't getting back up and getting away from him, in that process he elbowed a man in the head, you need to be in control of your own body and you are responsible for your actions. If the league is serious about headshots, which one day they are next they aren't, then they need to suspend all headshots in any instance where they could have been avoided.

Reinhart hit was fine other than the result of course. Gus went into the boards awkwardly and was falling down. I do find it suspicious how almost everyone on the Panthers skates in backwards to finish a check. Like it’s definitely something the do intentionally rather than tuck the shoulder. I noticed it last game they played the Rangers too.

Reinhart definitely threw his elbow to try to catch Gus with a hit after he mostly avoided it, I don’t think he wanted his elbow to catch his head though, just body/chest

It may be that other players will gets days off as well. I don't know exactly what Lavi's plan is, and I'd imagine the announcers didn't either, but those are the names they mentioned.

I doubt Lavi is going to sit Panarin while we are fighting for 1st in the division/league. They asked him last night about the President's Trophy, and his response was that, while they aren't thinking about it, of course they want to win every game.

If and when we get to a point where we are locked into a playoff position, I think Lavi will rest guys.

There was zero intent with Reinharts hit so let’s get that out of the way. Not the same as Rempes situation.

And elbow to the face is a penalty regardless of intent so I don’t know how that was Missed.

I'm not sure I understand. I think there has been consistency. Look at Rempe. No suspension on the Bastian hit. Which, there shouldn't have been. It wasn't a headshot.

He did get 4 games later on for what was a clear headshot.

This hit by Reinhart, while unfortunate, is not a penalty or a suspendible hit. There was no intent.
