Yea, hard pass. I only see Garland being moved in either a 1 for 1 deal, or maybe a deal with two quality pieces. Zacha as a center piece is not something I'd want any part of it. Bahl/Okhotyuk are interesting secondary pieces, but I'd need someone a lot better than Zacha as the primary.

The value is there I'm sure, I just don't like the fit. If Garland is traded my guess is it will be for either a similarly aged/valued RH'ed d-man or a 3rd line center capable of handling heavy defensive minutes.

Devils really don’t have either RHD is the weaker side of their prospect pool. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them move Severson, but his contract status likely scares Vancouver away. Devils also need to balance dealing him and also needing him or a similar player to be competitive next year.

We don’t have that 3C either unless Vancouver severely overvalues McLeod or for some reason thinks Zacha is a good defensive center.

I don't think anyone is severely overvaluing McLeod, but he seems like a reasonably adequate 3rd line defensive center? Vancouver definitely needs that. He's a R shot, good faceoff percentage, speed so checks a few boxes. Don't know a ton about the player however, is he the Devils shut-down C? Is he the guy who plays the toughest minutes and deployment?

thats probably Hischier. McCloud does some of it as well and at times NJ uses him as a fogo but he’s more energy line center than defensive center.

in any event he’s seen as a flawed player by many NJ fans. He’s got every tool in the toolbox and even solid IQ. He just applies himself sporadically. He’s not quite skilled enough to play solely a skill game and be effective. When he plays with some emotion or extra effort he is quite good. I think the peaks and valleys force him to the wing.

My goodness is Garland getting overrated around here...

He is a good player, but let's not act like he's a 1st liner. He is an above average 2nd line winger. I mean, he doesn't even play on the 1st PP unit on a non playoff team for Fs sake.

He’s very frustrating, when he uses his size he’s an absolute monster, but if he doesn’t you won’t notice him at all.. definitely a winger
