Do the gun mechanics feel better over Last Light?
I don't remember LL at all, what do you mean by gun mechanics? If you mean shooting than yea it's pretty good, nothing spectacular. Some weapons felt a lot better than others - shotgun, hand cannon sniper, and crossbow were great, AR and SMG felt meh. You can change a lot of the weapon mods though.

Is anyone playing Hunt Showdown? I'm down to play with anyone looking to chill. I'm not a ringer and won't get pissy if we never win lol

I'm over halfway through Super Mario Odyssey (just finished New Donk City), and so far it's pretty cool. I have some gripes with the way the moons are structured in a way that makes it feel a bit like an overly easy collect-a-thon rather than a lean and finely-tuned series of challenges (I dislike the idea that completing a level is based on whether or not you've aimlessly explored an arbitrary amount), but its charm, polish, creative consideration, satisfying controls/mechanics, and inspired world design more than makes up for it. Feels like a laborious love letter to the entire franchise. The speed-running mechanics are fantastic too (although I wish there were a speedier dash).

I would have loved it a lot more if they trimmed down the number of moons so that each one is actually a meaningful challenge/reward that's completely irrelevant to completing the game, and if they got rid of shops.

I've been playing this as well. I think I'm around level 25.

After a few hours of getting used to the controls (and dodging), it's quite a fun game. I enjoy the Gwent mini-game as well.

The only challenge I've run into is how quickly you can out-level the quests.

I generally pick up the "question mark" points of interest on the way to my quest locations which is probably a mistake as the XP granted by those areas doesn't have a level cap.

My suggestion would be to try and do the main quests within the quest experience window (I think it's +5 levels) because they offer the most XP.

You won't be able to get experience rewards for the side quests that you out-level but it's not as big of a deal.

Ultimately, it probably doesn't matter as it's more of a power leveling concern than a real issue with the game.

Started playing through Crash Team Racing Remastered adventure mode. Still awesome after all of these years. I’m playing on classic so I haven’t seen what they’ve done with the customization yet, but the base game is as fun as ever. My favorite game as a kid looks great on the PS4.

I read that the loading times on that game are brutal.

Ummm now that you mention it they do seem a bit long for initially starting a track. They’re much quicker with hen you retry a race or event though. They didn’t really stand out to me like Anthem though. Those felt awful.

Dragon Quest Builders - PS4

Played for about 3 hours and it's addictive as hell. I love basically anything Dragon Quest but had never played one of these minecraft simulation type games, but it's alot of fun. I'll probably end up finishing it instead of starting a game for 2 hours and never touching it again, I'm looking at you Kingdom Hearts 3/Red Dead 2.

Alliance Alive - 3DS

Gameplay and combat is fun, no idea what's going on in the story cuz my attention level is zero and I just skip through it.

I started playing Strange Brigade last night with a friend of mine. It's pretty fun. It's a 4 player campaign game set in Egypt with a fun narrator making it seem like it's a really old school TV show. Cutscenes are black and white and grainy and the narrator is really well done, sounds like the really old school "what will our adventurers do next?!" kind of thing. The gameplay is pretty solid too. I'm definitely glad I picked it up during the Steam sale.

switching between devil may cry 5 and Alan Wake...I was having difficulties staying interested in a game so having both a slow (paced) and fast game on the go seems to work for me lately because I am enjoying both

Picked up Borderlands 2 Handsome Collection for cheap on Steam, really fun game. Look forward to BL3 in September now too. I've played Maya and Sal, much prefer Maya for solo but I changed up my build on Sal and he's feeling a bit tougher now.

Finished up A Plague Tale tonight. Some frustrating stuff towards the final few chapters, but it's still neck and neck with the RE2 remake for me as far as GOTY goes.

Gonna dig into Rage 2 now and check out What Remains of Edith Finch now that it's out on the Switch.

I don't want to get into anything heavy on story because I'm going out of state on vacation next week. I started playing Blur, a racing game from 2010 with licensed cars but power ups similar to Mario Kart. I don't know why I thought of it recently but I've had it for years. I think it even got removed from Steam like 6-7 years ago due to licensing issues too. I'm actually having a lot of fun with it. The game looks surprisingly good for a game that's 9+ years old now.

I downloaded Prey from Game Pass. I love that game. I played through it on PC when it came out and really enjoyed it. Playing through it again and loving it all over again. That game did not get the love it deserved from the media and that's a shame. It was really well done.
