I'm over halfway through Super Mario Odyssey (just finished New Donk City), and so far it's pretty cool. I have some gripes with the way the moons are structured in a way that makes it feel a bit like an overly easy collect-a-thon rather than a lean and finely-tuned series of challenges (I dislike the idea that completing a level is based on whether or not you've aimlessly explored an arbitrary amount), but its charm, polish, creative consideration, satisfying controls/mechanics, and inspired world design more than makes up for it. Feels like a laborious love letter to the entire franchise. The speed-running mechanics are fantastic too (although I wish there were a speedier dash).
I would have loved it a lot more if they trimmed down the number of moons so that each one is actually a meaningful challenge/reward that's completely irrelevant to completing the game, and if they got rid of shops.
