You ever take so long looking at your games, that you just give up on playing something new.

So you go to Netflix and do the same thing. And you just end up playing something you always play....

I hate that.

Me too buddy, some of us actually struggle with this at a psychosomatic level, as someone who has severe anxiety and depression issues when I'm trying to push myself to try something new the thought of the unforeseen stress or failure sometimes is too much, so I slip back into what I know and am good at, because it's safe and familiar, not always, but it's always lingering.

Before I try to play I evaluate my attitude and energy level, if both those are crap, then the chances are slim to none. What can help is I watch a hype package video of a pro or popular streamer prior to get the juices flowing.

I have a problem along those lines when it comes to offline games vs browser games. I only just recently quit a browser game that I'd been playing for 6 years. I was good at it, it would load up in the browser within seconds and I could play it for 10 minutes or 2 hours. In contrast, offline/singleplayer games can take minutes to get into, often don't seem worth starting up for me unless I'm going to commit at least an hour to them, tend to be more challenging and frustrating and often trigger my perfectionism (so that I try to do everything most efficiently). It's so easy, when considering whether to load up a such a game, to just go "nah... I don't feel like it right now... I'll just load up the comfortable browser game again."

You know one cure for this problem. Just stop playing games in your backlog and only buy new games.

I've been doing it a bit on console. I just buy a game when it comes out, beat it, then sell it. I find it much more enjoyable especially when there's online to the game.
People generally compare older games to games that were also available at the same time. I don't know how the game aged but it was something completely new from what gamers were used to in 2004.
04 was one of the GOAT years for gaming though. Tons of graphically impressive games that year.

Now obviously I'm being too hard on the game, I'd just never heard how insane the AI was for Far Cry, totally caught me off guard.

Been playing SW:BF2 on PC since it was free on epic games, and the multiplayer is actually pretty solid. I should probably finish Ghosts of tushima, not the biggest fan but I'm like 70% done.

Haven't played a strategy game in over a decade. Think I'm gonna go with one of the Total War games on PC and fire up XCom Enemy Within (or Unknown) on the PS3. I actually did briefly try to play Europa Universalis or something but was bored a few hours in and gave up.

Started playing Dead Cells for the first time. Really addictive gameplay loop and I love all the different combos of weapons.

After playing Factorio for over 1000 hrs and Satisfactory for 2000 moved onto Dyson Sphere Program. New factory game. Its a mix between the 2 with some astroneer mixed in.

I got a razer kishi and have been messing around with some smartphone games. Xbox gamepass is mostly alright but I have to say a mindblowingly good experience is Sonic 1 and 2. For those that don't know one of the main guys responsible for Sonic Mania ported Sonic 1 and 2 to smartphones and it's bizarrely the best versions by a country mile. Native 16:9 support, great audion, and the spin dash which wasn't originally in Sonic 1 is now.

I'm incredibly impressed, and I'm not even a huge Sonic fan. Bonus is the games are completely free ( $2 US if you cant put up with ads, which I couldn't).

These versions really deserve to be ported to consoles and switch

Started playing Cyber Shadow, it's an homeage to the original Ninja Gaiden games. It's tough but a lot of fun. It's not crazy challenging because they're rather generous with checkpoints, at least compared to the original Ninja Gaidens.

Anyone else playing Valheim? I've played a lot of similar games but so far this one is a lot of fun and pretty smooth. Definitely a challenge and the lack of information on the internet makes it better.

Assault Suit Leynos

Really good arcade style game with a surprisingly good story. Apparently a remaster of a genesis game, though Id never heard of it. Decent Challenge and pretty short. Recommend.

Recently got SW Battlefront 2 for cheap on the Xbox One

I usually play sport games 99% of the time because modern action/adventure take too much time and you have to memorize all those controls lol but I’m a Star Wars fan and it was cheap

Slicing through clone troopers with Count Dooku and beating the shit out of Anakin is awesome

Also I almost successfully completed an extraction mission on my 1st try after taking down like 30 rebels only to be stupidly killed a few inches from making
Dammit

Just got platinum in Bloodborne. I might take a stab at the DLC soon but I’m also very intrigued by Hollow Knight. May give myself a Bloodborne break (it may have rocketed up to my top 5 games of all time )

Nice. The DLC is very good ... but Hollow Knight is also quite good.

Can't go wrong!

Playing through all of the Borderlands 3 DLC. I beat the base game when it first came out, but never tried any of the DLC. It’s all on sale now and I found a cool build on YouTube that makes the hardest difficulty really fun, which makes getting the best rewards fun. I’ve beaten the wedding one, the outlaw/bounty one, the Battle Royale mode, and the casino one in the past few days. They’re all just more Borderlands, but that’s a good thing to me. Going to play through the Kreig one next.

Just started a new file for Final Fantasy Tactics on the old PS3. The HDMI port is broken, so I'm playing using regular A/V cables. I've played this game a lot over the years but never really took a deep dive into the non-story content, so I'll be doing that this time.
