Games Tonight Affecting Sens

Only real contender for Montreal to worry about is Detroit. If they beat them tomorrow, the race is effectively over. However Detroit has a game in hand and if they can beat mtl tomorroe, then it gets a bit more interesting. Maybe one of us or Toronto can beat MTL as well this weekend, that would fully open the window for the wings.

Long shot but it’s possible. Habs still gotta win tomorrow
It's a shame they both can't miss.

Rangers lost 5-1.

We clinch tomorrow if:
1. We win in any fashion against the Jackets.
2. Detroit loses in any fashion against the Habs.
3. We get at least one point against the Jackets.
I believe one and two are true.

However, if we get an OTL loss and Detroit wins in regulation, we would not clinch. Because Detroit could get to 91 points and 34 RW, which would give them the edge over our 33 RW.

Detroit has to win ALL the remaining games on their schedule just to get to 91 points. In other words they need to win the 6 remaining games just to catch Ottawa.

Ottawa has to go 0-5 for the Detroit to even have a chance of that. If Ottawa wins tomorrow, Detroit is eliminated. If Ottawa wins any of the next remaining five, Detroit is eliminated. There is no team catching us for this playoff spot. I am tired of playing these games. We need to just chill.

The Sens have been good for a while, this is just talking about when they get the X beside their name in the standings.

Detroit would be eliminated from catching us, but not officially eliminated yet, as Montreal is below us. Technically, Buffalo is not eliminated yet, but they obviously won’t make it.

Detroit’s outside possibility is winning against Montreal and then winning their game in hand to be within one point. However, I don’t see any reason to believe Detroit is going to be able to string together a comeback this late, just not a good team.
