Wow, we can leap over Tampa into a proper division seeding with a win tomorrow.

I disagree. I want a Montreal win. They are no threat to us. They're on an unsustainable run. I'm looking ahead, not behind. Although, the game ending in regulation is more important than either team winning.Tampa plays Montreal tomorrow, so I think we want Tampa to win.
He probably won’t play, Markstrom will likely be the starter.
Sens rocket from 17th to 9th in the TSN power rankings. Logic is that the Sens are now 10th in goal differential.
3M long term for Paul was a great deal for Tampa

People have been saying that since they won the first 3 games of the stretch, it's been 16 games now. They need to stop winning ASAP. In the article from the last page :
The Montreal Canadiens continue to rise on our list, up two spots from 22nd to 20th. The Habs are coming off a thrilling overtime win against the Rangers on Sunday night. Montreal has the best record in the NHL dating back to December 16th, at 12-3-1. The Canadiens have the best goal differential of any team in that span and are the highest-scoring team in the league as well. Montreal sits just one point behind Columbus for the final playoff spot in the East.
I'd rather see Rangers/Bruins claim the last playoff spot, they're older, slower and lack scoring depth.
They are definitely playing better, but looking at that 16 Dec to present stretch, they are wildly outperforming their underlying metrics. The chances they are creating just aren't sufficient to expect that league leading 3.4 GF/60 at 5v5 to continue (no team is going to keep up that pace), but even if/when it does come back down to earth, they are playing like a playoff team so I wouldn't expect them to fall out of the playoff race unless they lose confidence and stop playing the way they have been.
Why give up on catching the Leafs? What are they 10 points up? We see teams make that kind of jump every season. We all remember the hamburglar run.Second day in a row rooting for Leafs.
You're right the Sens are 14th in goal differential on the year.Weird, I see 14th
Making the playoffs is more important than finishing ahead of Toronto. Why give up on catching the Leafs? What are they 10 points up? We see teams make that kind of jump every season. We all remember the hamburglar run.
They arnt mutually exclusive, why not do both? Leafs finishing ahead of the Sens 8 straight season doesn’t sit right. Saturday is a 4 point game if you ask me.Making the playoffs is more important than finishing ahead of Toronto.
