How big of an upgrade has Reilly Smith been over Zucker? Most including myself saw it as a slightly better than lateral move but Zucker's never had a stretch this good. Smith is a baller. I didn't think he was a splash play type of guy.
Smith is just a far superior finisher.

I do miss Zucker's forechecking. He's undeniably better there. But Smith is way better at finishing and I think better off the rush as well. And both of those attributes are important for Malkin.

I did also like that Rust got on the ice with Smith/Malkin because of a broken line change and it immediately resulted in a goal for Smith lol.

Huge. Smith is just a smarter player, always has been.

Meanwhile, in Calgary....

Huberdeau and Kadri are literally criminals.

A Zucker type at $3 million instead of Carter would be wonderful.

That was a pretty much perfect game.

If you want to go through and nitpick things....you're an insufferable person

Ruh holds the puck like a grenade.

Everything else positive.

So is the Z Fan Club a more is merry type of thing where we let everyone in? Or like an exclusive club that you had to get in at the beginning?

We're getting more applicants by the game, I think.

I best be in this club.

He hit the post on a shift with Malkin :(
So close
He's accorded himself nicely no question.

On another topic, Colorado is arguably the fastest team in the league and because of our structure we were able to stay right with them and look fast ourselves by superb decision making, forcing turnovers and taking away the middle of the ice. Our backchecking tonight with purpose was refreshing to watch.

+Rupp actually analyzing moments and not being a clown and making jokes every 10 seconds like Armstrong

+/- if Carter had any finish this year, he might be leading the team in goals. Dude at the very least is getting chances. The rest of the time he's playing...eh.

Agreed re: Rupp. Pretty impressed with him.

Carter has had a nonzero amount of chances, but nothing to write home about.

Smith also PK's very well and is better defensively at 5v5 than Zuck.

Definitely an upgrade over what Zuck would have given us this year imo. Last year Zuck was phenomenal offensively, but it wasn't gonna happen again.
Smith's been a very big 5v5 producer since coming coming over to Vegas. Was very happy with that signing. Glad he hasn't made my takes look like shit so far.

-We actually played Defense. Not that passive shit where we all back into Jarry's crease.
-Jarry is not Elite but he's really good when you Defend a little and stop giving away free shots from 5' feet out.
-We also adjusted the Forcheck... I just re-watched game and you'll notice we rarely got caught with 3 guys behind their goal line. That was much smarter hockey.
-That Geno->Smith goal was filthy... Geno's little curl fake shot then snap pass to Smith.
