DK morning podcast went after Sullivan for putting the fourth line out there in a 4-3 game when we needed a goal, and mostly roasted Carter lol, who looks definitively done to me too…and that he’s mostly been getting chances to score and can’t is the cherry on top lol
Unfortunately, "getting chances" is better than anything you could say about anyone else in the bottom 6 right now.

Yeah but if you can’t skate anymore and your shot is gone, he’s more of an empty sweater…and it’s his line mates setting him
up so they aren’t worse…it’s not like he’s creating chances on his own thru his own creativity and skating lol

This one might be your best yet!

I had 2 glaring concerns after the Karlsson trade. Lack of cap space to address depth issues and our team became premium toilet paper soft. People thought I was overreacting about the cap space issue. Retaining on Petry and not getting more retained on Karlsson was a huge problem and now even worse. We have zero room to maneuver. Carter is here to stay, hes not waiving and hes not going on LTIR. There is no one else to move in the bottom 6 to get cap space. I really wonder what Poulin could bring to the 3rd line.
I'm indominable....

The bottom six stinks but Jake and Sid haven't been all that effective either. We have like three forwards playing well and two of them are on the same line

You have a top six mostly consisted of PPG players save Rakell.

Yeah, when the tire fire starts, it's hard to contain when you add all that fuel to the coals beneath.

The overall production is there but I feel like GCR has another level they can reach and we kinda need them to reach that level given how shit the bottom six is.

Last night GCR was on the ice for 23 shot attempts and only 5 against. They didn't allow any high danger chances while producing four of their own, and they scored two goals while allowing none.

That's a pretty solid night.

But, like last night, when that fire is in full rage, putting them on can snuff out a complete shift trying to right the ship. The compounding theory. Add in long line changes in the 2nd.

And we'll need a lot more of those if we're gonna get anywhere. It's not coming from the bottom six.

And Malkin's line is going to cool off at some point.

Dubas really needs to fix this bottom six so that we stop having to demand excellence out of our old guys every night. They can still give it more often than not but they need some help

Take out the third period though when everyone was going hard because we were down three goals…what did they do in the first two periods when the game was in doubt?

We have an interesting schedule the rest of the month. After facing the Blues on the road we have a four game home stand vs Dallas, Colorado, Ottawa, and Anaheim.

Some pretty tough games in that stretch but at least all of those are at home.

we have to come to terms that both of our Top lines will be probably good for greatness only one period per game, they are just too old to fly for 60 minutes. EK is a saving grace there that could help propel them a little bit...that is the reason more why we need some offense from the bottom 6, maybe not even goals at least to keep momentum, get some forechecking and hope that EK or Letang can score on their shifts

I still think the team needs another legit top-6 guy tbh. I don't think Geno and Smith are gonna keep up this pace all season, and getting a substantial addition to this top-6 allows you to drop someone like Rust or Rakell down to L3.

They allowed five shot attempts all night. Even if they weren't producing a ton offensively in the first two periods, having your first line allow five shot attempts and two actual shots on goal is pretty damn good.

You should be able to win with that if the rest of the lineup is doing its job.

Just realized Matt Nieto played more 5v5 minutes than Malkin and Smith last night.

I understand Malkin due to the penalties. Why Smith tho?
Like I said, mixing in some of these guys PK/bottom six here or there for a shift, but Sully is in like full not take a chance with these guys.

This team, even going through Nov. could be a .500 team or worse as currently constructed.

At least we'll take the good teams seriously, I trust. Not take periods off like the last 2 games.
