It's 3 guys that have been around the whole rest of the team team, you want to know how to make a virus worse? By asking people who were exposed to those who tested positive to go be around other people. How dumb can we really be?
I can't wait for the third "outbreak" of a few players that gets things shutdown again in the playoffs when their team falls behind in a series.

I'd make them forfeit those games too.

Really all that can be said is, it sucks, but it it is what it is this year. Hopefully as time goes on it becomes less and less of an issue but even for the next season or two I expect some Covid cancellations to pop up here and there.

Hopefully as vaccinations continue the cases will reach their ultimate peak and things in the US, Canada, and the broader world get settled down and we can all go back to enjoying a relatively virus free daily life, see a game with 18000 other Blues fans at Enterprise. Until then unfortunately we just have to take things in stride. The extra time off allows the Blues to heal up some more and I don’t think the extra practice time will hurt the Blues either.

If players have close contact exposure, they should be on the Covid list. Then you get not really just 3 guys, it’s whatever number you are clearing from close contact. Having a taxi squad was for precisely the situation where a few guys are going out on short notice.

If it’s really just 3 players out right now, they should be playing.
That’s the biggest joke out of all of this. If a player tests positive then simply isolate that player like they do. The team should pratice and go on as usual until there are too many players that test positive to play. Since extra players are on the roster this year, that number should be MUCH higher than 3!!!!!

If half the team gets it then that wouldn’t be the worst thing. At least they got it out of the way and there won’t be multiple stoppages for the same team like Colorado throughout the season.

Then there was Monday’s cancellation because of riots. Why not play it Tuesday afternoon? The Twins played all week during the afternoon this last week! Got I’m so sick of this contagious GD flu...the Blues of course were playing their best hockey and starting to really turn their season around

Hmm when a few opposing players test positive their team gets to postpone and wait it out. But when 50% of the Blues roster is decimated with injuries for weeks they have to play :) I'm just joking of course.

This year sucks and the sooner we move on and get back to regular standards the better.

In Finland there was one team which were forced to forfeit. Eventually we have to solve standing by winning % wise.

It appears some Avs fans got lost. Why don't you head back to your own sub forum to discuss this topic. This board is for Blues fans and if they want to complain here they sure as hell don't need your input. Make a main board thread if you want to have a back and forth.

We will have played 2 games in roughly 2 weeks due to dumb crap happening to other teams.

When does the league start forfeiting games for teams who refuse to follow protocols to stay home? Once is a accident, twice is a pattern. This is not fair to other teams who followed protocols and did the right things to have their schedules constantly ruined because of other teams inactions.

Amen! And if you don’t make them forfeit games-tell me what the point of the taxi squad was.

They’re bending over for Colorado again. Remember earlier their outbreak just happened to come when their top players were all out?

Wish we could’ve done that in February

You act like they’re only doing this for Co.

They’ve done this for multiple teams in playoff positions and some on the outside.

This shouldn’t be a penalty to any team. The simple solution is to just pause for all teams to get vaccinated and healthy to prevent further spread.

No one is getting favorable treatment right now. The Avs had a hyper condensed schedule because Minnesota passed it to the Avs and both teams were shut down for two weeks.

The Avs have played more games than any other team in the last month and a half and still pulled off a 21-1-2 record or something like that. I’m not saying that to brag or rub it in. I’m saying they adjusted to a tough schedule and still had success.

The Blues are capable of winning, it’s up to them to get on the ice and get Ws. At the end of the day they get some rest now which I’m sure the players appreciate. It favors neither team. No matter what they’re (all players and teams) either recovering or playing a gauntlet of condensed scheduling.

The league has handled it horribly but I just fail to see how you feel teams should be responsible for getting an illness that is causing life long problems for a lot of people that survive.

There is 0 evidence that there was any protocol issues. Avs got it from Minnesota last time. This time it’s unknown and there is 0 evidence to indicate someone wasn’t following protocol.

The funniest thing of all is the Avs could easily forfeit 10 games and still get a playoff spot comfortably. Playoff seating is literally meaningless, even more so if they play them in a bubble. So who cares and stop delaying the end of this joke season already and make em forfeit. If you can't play the games on your schedule, that is how it needs to be.

But we will just continue to inconvenience other teams and their schedules so we can pander to the one team who for SOME reason keeps having issues while virtually nobody else in the division does.

The NHL extended the regular season to May 16 several days before postponing any Avs games. The plan from the beginning has been to use the week from May 9-May 16 as a buffer week to make up games. Yesterday, the NHL extended the season to May 19 in order to accommodate the Canucks (not the Avs). They have not ruled out the possibility of starting the playoffs for non-North-Division games a couple days earlier. The Wild game has been rescheduled for 5/12/21 and we will almost certainly play the Avs shortly after that. We're not smashing games into our existing schedule. We will play games instead of sitting idle for a week before playoffs. Frankly, I'd rather play these games that week and stay in game shape rather than sit idle for a week.

The NHL is going to finish playoffs before the Olympics start 7/23/21. I've got an amazing bridge to sell anyone who believes otherwise. The plan from day 1 on this season was always to start the playoffs in mid-May. The absolute worst case scenario here is that the season will last an extra 7-10 days. Anyone acting like this is going to cause a huge reduction in games next year is either fear-mongering or doesn't understand basic addition. I have a different, even better bridge to sell anyone who honestly believes that NHL owners have any appetite for a shortened 21/22 season with fans in buildings again.

Solid point in actuality. Difference is injuries aren't self-inflicted.

The leagues and owners really can't afford another semi-season. And honestly, I think most fans are clamoring for a "real" schedule again. I think at some level some players aren't taking these shortened seasons as seriously as they should. It's almost as though they're treating them as extended training camps for a full schedule (that's a bit overstated, but I think the point is made).

Also, there's no way the Olympics can or should be affected. We all know it'll shut down the minute one person gets the sniffles anyway, so shortening any part of that is a non-starter.

This is a blessing in disguise. It gives us the one thing we desperately need: time.

Time to heal, time to get practice time in, time to get back on track. It’s a blessing in disguise and it’s a way that the Hockey Gods are winking from above at us. They haven’t forgotten or forsaken us and want to see if we have the resolve to rise again and fight. And we do.

These aren’t the days of old. Our stars and luck has changed the moment we hoisted the Cup. We just have to believe in it.

No one is talking about the NHL affecting the Olympics or shortening the Olympics. The NHL has to get done before the Olympics start on 7/23/21. Trying to compete with Olympic coverage would be a complete disaster for the NHL, so they are going to award the Cup before the Opening Ceremony.

you seem pretty comfortable with holding a team responsible, just can't be the avs apparently

at this point, it's up to the other teams if the blues get to play. it's annoying as heck, especially watching you attempt to ride in your high horse to explain away why it's not unfair, despite being rather unfair. it's not the avs fault, but the blues are clearly waiting around on the avs and have been all season. again, easy to ignore from your angle.

I am sure the Avs would much rather it be a normal season and to play the games as scheduled. They have lost in regulation once in the last like 20+ games, the pause sucks for them as much as anyone.

It's annoying for everyone but better than no season at all. Not sure what anyone expected with trying to play during an ongoing pandemic.

Here's a thing I hate... like let's say for example... there are 100 people at a Save the Whales rally or whatever... and one random nobody at the rally says "I think that we should save the whales by killing all fish!"

...and someone hears that and says "The people at the save the whales rally want to kill all fish, what a bunch of idiots!!!"

Yeah, no, they don't. One person said that, not the entire group.

Same things goes for ignorant fans from other fanbases who think that every Blues fans shares the opinions of one or two people in this thread. Like, get the **** outa here with that nonsense. The vast majority of people are expressing that they think these opinions are dumb.

If someone went on the Avs board (or ANY board anywhere) and cherry picked the opinions of a one or two of their goofiest posters and then ascribed those thoughts to the entire fanbase that person would be an ignorant doofus worthy of scorn.

The NHL does extensive testing and contact tracing, it shouldn't take a week to have the contact tracing done. Also, the Avs have played twice with 3+ players on Covid list, Detroit played 6 straight games with 5 players out, Flyers played 2 games with 6 guys out, and a bunch of other teams have played with several players on Covid list. So a shutdown of a week over 3 players is odd considering what teams have been made to play through already this season

We've had around 20 games moved due to Covid while never actually shutting down due to it. We're simply tired of our schedule getting completely wrecked by things out of our control.
