I'd like to add that there are so many holes, with the injuries, that I don't see the point in trying to fix any of them at this point.

Remember, this is akin to how 2011/2012 started, with Moreau and Trent Hunter mysteriously getting all sorts of ice time. I wouldn't worry.... :)

Who would have guessed (no matter the circumstances) that they would have ZERO regulation wins after 9 games?

A team 2 years removed from winning their 2nd Cup!?

That's just embarrassing.

I was fully on board with celebrating the 4OT wins because I wasn't sure it was going to last much longer.

Agree that the team has issues and it shouldn't be shocking to people and I'm confused by this thread. Kings don't have a regulation win. They can stay in games against bad teams and win in OT. Against good teams with depth/structure, their offense just disappears. They don't have the defense/goaltending to make up for lack of offense.

Buckle up because this ride might get a little bumpy.

On a side note: This is the type of season when you have to earn your fan card.

If I see Rob Scuderi penciled in tomorrow next to Drew Doughty then I think I'm going to stay home and watch the baseball game.

I won't even watch. Literally. That would piss me off.

I agree with that. Pointless. This is exactly what AHL depth and prospects are for, too.

**** me.

I'm on the ledge first. Cannot defend that decision. I understand the 'why,' but at this point, it's unacceptable.

I'm sure he is just filling the press box spot and Greene will be playing.

Still, it is pretty gnarly to be in 2016 and have the possibility of both Greene and Scuderi on the ice for the LA Kings and not an alumni game.

Yep. I'm not going tomorrow and I won't be watching either. Could always catch the replay if they pull out a miracle.

This also sends a bad message to the players in Ontario. It doesn't matter what you do, veterans will always come before you. Imagine you're a young defensemen playing his butt of night in and night out and a guy who hasn't even shown up gets the call?

Old school thinking in a new school NHL

Players are succeeding younger than ever

The prime years are now the mid twenties

Players are wearing out by thirty

But the good ole Kings continue to ripen their fruit and let the vintage guys get the time.

I truly believe the philosophy Detroit used, did use to work but the new NHL is fueled by speed, skill, and young hungry players.

The Kings have recalled Rob Scuderi from AHL-Ontario.

I heard Gravel hasn't looked so good in Ontario. Probably because of what you said. He has no idea what he needs to do to make the team. Same with Mersch. What more can these guys prove??? I get wanting to keep Kempe down there and proving himself but Mersch and Gravel are too old to still be down there. Hurry up and bring them up so we can see what we have.

Or is just the same old BS. Re-sign King to some dumb deal next summer and have Mersch on the roster only because he's no longer waiver exempt? Instead we could have Mersch replace King while saving $2-3 million. But nope. Keep the same players and falsely believe this is the same team as in 2014.

Yup.

Gravel and Mersch are 24 years old but listen to DL's interviews, he still refers to them as "kids". It's ridiculous, especially now a days where you lose guys to UFA at such a young age (it used to be 31). And both are toiling in the AHL so we can have Greene, Scuderi, Clifford, Purcell, Shore etc. on the NHL roster.

I don't know who is stuck in 1995 more in this town, the guys running the NHL team or the guys running the NFL team. It's close.

If they have such egos that they break down mentally over having to wait for their opportunity I don't want them on the Kings anyway. If they've truly mentally checked out, we should trade them for picks while we can fool other people for their value.

Exactly. There is a reason why Taylor and AEG started with establishing a full time AHL team where players could be developed. We've made this mistake again and again as a franchise and when THEY say they are ready is the only right time to call them up regardless of age. 24 year old are still kids for the most part.

I think you can wonder why Scuderi is called up, and at the same time not be worried about the feelings of young guys in the minors. Even if they come to dislike the GM, or the franchise in general, and leave as soon as they can, if Gravel isn't playing well(and I don't know, I'm just going by what some people here have said) because a veteran guy gets the first call, then he's only hurting himself and any potential contract he gets from any team.

That's just silly. Scuds is basically retired. They're giving him a few games as a scratched player. You seem to have forgotten him getting beat out by Forbort (who I think is playing well).

Gravel needs more icetime then what he's going to get on the Kings at this point.

I think Fox spoke about Kempe in the preseason saying that his game may be more suited to the NHL than AHL.

I believe that is the case for some guys but I'm not a coach. I appreciate all Greene and Scuderi have done. King, Clifford, and Nolan too. Not sure we need more than one of them tho even if they are cheap and easy to plug in to the bottom lines.

As a fan, I was hoping to see Kempe, LaDue, and Gravel over Greene and Scuderi and so on.

This is not a true contending season. Why not get these guys acclimated?

Glad Forbort is fitting in but I still think that was a bust of a pick. To high for a 5th-6th dman that may top out as a 4th. Still, at least LA did not lose him to waivers.

If LA is out by the deadline I firmly hope to see some dead weight moved on and the youth movement to begin in earnest.

Kempe Kopi Gaborik
Pearson Carter Toffoli
Purcell Dowd Brown
Andreoff Shore Lewis
Clifford

Doughty McNabb
LaDue Muzzin
Forbort Martinez
Gravel/Gilbert

Trade Nolan/King
Send Greene/Scuderi down
