Damn it guys. If you give up another goal I'm going to go shop for curtains at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I mean it.

Yeah, because the sv% tells to story. C'mon Novacane, I though you were more reasonable than that. You don't think those goals were absolute breakdowns on the Canes front? I don't care if it's Ward, Lack, or anyone, they are giving up the worst sort of scoring chances. If you don't want to recognize that, well, I don't know what to say.

Like I said, I don't care if they pull Lack or whatever, but simply blaming the goalie on this 3-0 debacle is pretty silly.
It's half kidding, half not. It's just a continuation in a line of bad/awful performances by both goalies. Lack has clearly not been what we expected (why I was very beside myself when we extended him with no games as a Cane) and Ward's best days are done. I'm just ticked off because the goalies are far from good and there isn't a simple solution.

But if anybody tries to defend Ward letting in a goal due to it being a difficult play ya'll lay into whoever dared try and make an excuse.

The "nice" thing is for the most part, the goalies have played fairly well since November and other than a few games, haven't been the issue.

Ok, You've got your narrative so I'll leave you to it. Even if he "comes up with 1 of them" it's still 2-0, so not sure what your point is.

EDIT: and I don't think Lack is a good goalie, I just think THIS game, the players in front of him are the problem.
This is like the first time I've ever been critical of Lack on here. Yes, a very solid narrative I have going here.

Yeah, fair enough. I agree that Lack hasn't been what we expected....and in fairness, I probably react more to each play vs. the overall body of work.

Narrative or not, nobody can possibly think that we're a playoff team next year if we keep the tandem of Ward-Lack. We need an upgrade, and need one badly.

Ok, fair enough. I was just reacting to a blanket "40% sv% on a small sample, so he's terrible" without the context of the shots that contributed to that. Lack is not an elite goalie so I don't expect him to stop all of those, but the root cause of the problem was that the Canes were giving up point blank, wide open shots. Good NHL players (like Florida has) are going to score on those more often than not.

Classic example right there. Let the guy go right to the net and get two point blank shots on the Canes.

So I'm trying to decide if I should root for Florida in the playoffs because they're a fellow southern team or if I should root against them because they've always been a bunch of cheapshoting whiners? I mean, Olli Jokinen and most of that group is long gone, maybe I should retire the grudge.

Or maybe I'll just root for the Caps and Preds instead.

It's all good. I wasn't completely serious. Just having a touch of fun while still pointing out that he's not a great goalie. Didn't mean to goad anyone into my shenanigans although I didn't help matters either.

Time heals all wounds.

That said I'm hitching my wagon to the Stars. Maybe Nashville if they don't flame out early.

Yeah, I get it. Just it's the last game so there won't be any arguing until next season, so we have to get it all in now.
