Post-Game Talk: GAME 82 - HIBERNATION BEGINS with a costly overtime loss

Loved the Lysell pickpocket play and the Farinacci finish. But every finish needs a beginning and Minten starts by breaking up the play in the neutral zone, making a purposeful chip along the boards to Lauko instead of just rimming it in deep. Then he stays "above the puck" noting both his wingers are down low. Sees the chance to keep the forecheck going and takes the body in the corner and the weak clear goes to Lauko and then the finish. No point for Minten but he gets a gold star from the teacher. Berube was right about this kid, thinks the game like a vet.

I love how Lauko rushes in to grab the puck for him.

problem is its not like going from 4 to 7 screws them. It's not a draft where the top 3/4 are head and shoulders above the pack. 3-7 gets you basically the same potential between Hagens, Desnoyers, Frondell, Eklund, Mrtka
I'm not saying it destroys them or it's all doom and gloom. But let's say they have Frondell, Desnoyers and Hagens as the order of player they are hoping to draft. If the draft plays out 4th pick Frondell, 5th pick Desnoyers and 6th pick Hagens. They've missed on the top three guys they wanted. With Sweeney likely drafting maybe that decision being almost made for him is for the best lol. But that's what I'm more referencing in this scenario. I'm hoping we hit on something good but maybe it ends up costing us the kid we wanted the most.

Sounds like you think its 90% D & G to me.

So you have difficulties with 2 piece puzzles I see. That is what's known as an example where I clearly say let's say (which means play pretend to be clear for you) that if the front office had these random three players top of their list and we drafted later than those postions i.e 7th instead of 4th there would be a possibility of missing on their most desired options. Hopefully, this makes it a little easier for you to understand what we call a hypothetical (again a pretend scenario)

Oh I understand now thanks for the clarification. 👍

Desnoyers is dominating in the playoffs

Our long seasonal nightmare is finally over. Well, I guess every team that has been a contender for a long time has to face a rebuild at some point. Just like a forest fire has to come along and ravage the terrain so there can be new growth.

Hopefully we pick up a couple of good UFAs over the summer to bolster our middle 6, and strike gold in the draft. It looks like we'll be a younger and faster team next year.

The team has gone from record-setting squad to DNQ faster than you can say TD Gahden. Maybe it's good that next season the focus will be simple: make the playoffs. That's it. No pressure to go for a Cup. Just get stronger, hopefully under a new coach, and build toward that goal. Should be do-able.

Another season in the books. My 48th as a Bruins fan. Only my 8th DNQ. I have gone from calling sportsphone at 5am to see if they won on the west coast and reading day old box scores to see if they won two days before, to being able to watch 70 plus games a year...pretty cool. Growing up as an out of state hockey fan was hard back in the olden days
My 51 season

All told we were so spoiled for a long time with a hell of a team. This was inevitable for sure. Need to restock the cupboards and start putting the pieces back together. We were better than expected for longer than I expected. It just all came crashing down harder than I think any of us expected. Just need Florida to get through a couple rounds now lol.

I agree with you.

4th is better than 7th.
