Post-Game Talk: GAME 82 - HIBERNATION BEGINS with a costly overtime loss

I watched Joe Sacco play against my old HS in the old Garden when he was a Jr , at Medford HS, 1985-86. Was dominant as a HS player at a public school.

Then about 2-3 weeks later saw him play for Team Massachusetts at Billerica Forum against Team Minnesota, who was coached by Herb Brooks.

Sacco would come within a goal the next year of becoming the first public school team to beat a Catholic Conference defending state Champ in the Title game since my nephews 1978 Burlington Team did it against Matignon. He would go on to a terrific career at BU and a good run as a player and coach in the NHL. Anyone saying good riddance is a heartless bastard. Hope Bruins do the right thing and keep him in the org.

It's really hard to get all that worked up about screwing your best lottery odds when you know the same president and same GM who have fired 3 coaches and drove this team in the ground are the ones who have no repercussions for their actions.

I give Sweeney credit for finally going out in FA and trying something different AND trading away at the deadline but there's no reason why this man should continue to hold his job. The guy he took over for had way more success and less rope but he wasn't a "Bruin"

I have seen Minten listed at 6:02, but watching him didn't think he was. Brunet is also listed at 6:02 but in a pic next to Minten looks a couple of inches taller. I know Minten is leaning but if Brunet is 6:02, Minten isn't 6:02.

I hope they do find a spot for him. All the other coaches can take a hike

That and most athletes are simply too competitive by nature to throw a game or games.

I have to give this team credit- they never quit. They got beat a lot but they never gave up and I respect that.
If any player on my team ever tanked on purpose, I would want him gone ASAP.

I am proud of all of the kids game. Being out of the playoffs sucks but some of the young players were fun to watch. I see some hope for the future.

The way people are whining in here you would think they 100% know the difference between the #4 and #7 pick is going to be drafting Byron Bitz at #7 and
Alex Tuch at #4.
So after an absolutely horrible season where the only thing we could hope for as some kind of consolation prize being a strong first pick we aren't now allowed to be upset if we go from #4 to #7? I guess if we win the lottery and get the first overall we also shouldn't be happy about it. Sound logic

problem is its not like going from 4 to 7 screws them. It's not a draft where the top 3/4 are head and shoulders above the pack. 3-7 gets you basically the same potential between Hagens, Desnoyers, Frondell, Eklund, Mrtka

end of a brutal season but I`m a spoiled B`s fan, thankfully haven`t had to sit through seasons like this often.

Gonna look only at the positives but still lots of "ifs" heading into next year

1- Pasta/Geek/Lindholm chemistry- I`m 99.99% Sweeney will lock up Geeks and while I am not sure it`s wise to expect another 30+ goal season from him , I think a 20-25 would be terrific

2- Kids seemed alright- Really like Minten`s quiet yet responsible game, Lysell came on strong over the last handful of games, Khusy brought some great energy

3- Whomever is calling the shots behind the bench, I suspect they won`t open camp the way this group did with a goalie in a contract battle, Lindholm injured and literally zero jump in anyone`s step

4- Lohrei- fugly looking +/-, a "meh" kind of stat but great opportunity for the kid to play major minutes ahead of schedule, really gives the B`s coaching staff lots of areas to gauge what he needs to work on defensively which is essentially everything, like for the kid to play with a bit more bite

5- Lindholm- with a year under his belt for he and his family to assimilate, should come out with far more balanced play next year, missing much of camp due to injury does this every time, not sure I`ve seen too many who have great seasons without a camp. While I don`t think 60 pts is worth 8 mill, if he posts that next year, I`m ok with it

6- I am going to go out on a limb and say even Sweeney can`t f up this draft, we`re going to get a highly skilled kid, my wish is the B`s stop demanding all skilled kids be the next Bergy and let them play to their strenghts

If that's how you feel about the difference between the #4 pick and the #7 pick
well more power to you.

Ok but maybe that's not working so well with Lohrei, lol

If Geekie plays regularly with Pasta, I'd be terribly disappointed in a 25-goal season from him.

Passing and the PP need help, I think they'll get it bringing in some young blood.
Sacco will be fine at the helm, imo better than JM
