Habs playing their next to last game of the season tonight, vs the Detroit Red Wings.

It's been Tuch and go in the last 48 hours but the big news remains Lane Hutson heading for Detroit to meet his teammates and expected to make his NHL debut tonight in the State he was born in and vs his childhood hero Patrick Kane. A throng of family members will be on hand.

Welcome to the Habs' crown jewel NCAA offensive star.

In that spirit, pick one ...

Thread wouldn't be complete without at least taking a very brief look back at Saturday's game vs the Sens, a gunslinging affair that looked like no one really wanted to win too badly.

Hey, there might be more than one way to look at things.

Despite the loss to the Sens, was sure nice to see Caufield net 2 goals, for a career high 27.

Funny how life has a way of playing things out sometimes. Last year Pittsburgh could have done us a solid by winning their last two games of the season. Eliminating the Panthers from the playoffs and securing us a mid round draft puck.

Instead they screwed us over by chocking against Chicago and CBJ the last two games of the season.

Now we hold their faith in our hands. I hope we f*** them over these next two games like they did us and Detroit takes that final playoff spot.

This is an elimination game for the Wings due to that Washington-Philadelphia game tomorrow. One of those teams is getting 2 pts, and getting to 89 pts. Both hold the tie breaker over Detroit.

In order for Detroit to make the playoffs, they need to sweep Montreal and hope that Boston gets 2 pts in any way possible against Washington tonight (Regulation, OT or SO, Boston just needs to win).

If Detroit & Washington both win their final 2 games, Caps are in. Detroit is out. Washington hosts the Bruins tonight and is @ Philadelphia tomorrow.

The other option is for NYI not to gain more than one point in their final 2 games. Detroit holds the RW tie breaker against NYI. Islanders are @ NJD tonight then host Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

NYI clinch tonight with 2 pts.

Regardless, , if Detroit does not get 2 pts tonight, they're eliminated from the playoffs.

I expect them to come hard at the Canadiens.

Do we know who is in net?

Hopefully Primeau and Motormouth get lost on the way to the arena and Gallagher has to strap on the goalie pads

It's Alex Lyon for Detroit, no idea for MTL.

I'd also go with 11F, 7D tonight even if it is a back-to-back.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Armia-Newhook-Gallagher
Evans-Dvorak-Anderson
RHP and one of Pearson, Pezz, Ylonen

Matheson-Kovacevic
Hutson-Savard
Struble-Barron
Harris

Detroit can still pass NYI if they lose both their games and Detroit wins both their games.

If Detroit wins both games against Mtl (with one in regulation) to miss they'll need Caps to win both their games and NYI to get two points.
