The venn diagram between driving possession and scoring will never be a circle. If you can consistently produce and finish great chances, you're not getting second, third, and fourth chances. That makes a dent in the analytics.

Lots of guys are great scorers and have pedestrian analytics. Zibanejad is one. That's why it's good to mix your lines. Kreider and Kakko drive play.

The only Art Ross caliber scorer who's also a top, top possession driver is Matthew Tkachuk.

Even Connor McDavid was only 25th in xGF% last year. How can the be any higher? He scores almost as soon as he touches the puck.

Like they couldn't start weekend games at 4pm in vancouver? This 11pm crap has hockey night in canada written all over it.

I can't even see Zibanejad without thinking Savanah Chad

Yeah but if McDavid plays 25 minutes does it matter? Yeah he might score and then get off the ice but he's getting the 25 minutes somewhere.

Yeah that's why he's still good at it but he's not driving play commensurate to his actual impact.

If he was, he'd lead in xGF% by several percentiles.

Did I miss something?

At what point in the offseason did Vancouver go from an 83-point team in the Pacific to an 'actual good team'?

Also why on earth does Phil Di Giuseppe have four points in seven games for them

They almost made the WCF a couple of years back and have a ton of talent.

Their defense corps has been their main downfall (despite Quinn Hughes) and acquiring Hronek has at least made it passable.
