Because there's a skilless black hole in the "bumper" spot on that top PP unit. The same reason Strome should never have been there. There needs to be a real offensive threat in that spot. Otherwise everyone knows its going to be Panarin or Zibanejad on the perimeter and teams will give the Rangers the perimeter all night.

Our pp was good with Strome....the alignment without him has changed for the worse, Strome used to be at the half wall and work his way into the bumper, trochek just stands there.

Stretches like this happen every season. We'll see how long it goes and whether it costs them huge in the standings but it's not like the metro is excelling around them right now.
