2 points and I'm happy. But it was a **** game.
Murray looked slow and rusty. Calvert, Karlsson and Anderson all had one of their weaker games. But that's all transitory I'm sure.
The big deal is that Dubinsky and Jenner still suck. A lot. Wtf happened to those guys? Even Jenner's hits are looking weaker. I wouldn't be surprised if ends up traded. He just might not have a fit with where the team is going. Dubinsky I'm sure is declining physically a bit, but he also can't make a simple play. I think it's got to be mostly mental - "squeezing the stick" and so on. A guy can't lose that much skill that quickly.

I thought Karlsson looked ok. Nothing much statwise but he played hard and had some opportunities.
Agree about the rest. Jenner just looks weak, I don't understand what happened to him.
It's definitely nice to get another win before we face Montreal as well.
Bob gets a lot of the credit for tonight, obviously, but he's not as sharp as he is without a really good night for the D crew, especially, wait for it... Jones and Werenski. The Stars, despite dominating possession and offensive zone time (from the eye test at least), weren't getting a ton of great scoring chances. They were firing unscreened shots from outside all night and not getting any rebounds. Bob was great, but his defense made it easier for him than what we saw last year.
The other guy who deserves a ton of credit is Foligno. He was a force out there all night. The only times the Jackets could get something going in the offensive zone all night it seemed like were when 71 was out there. He was dominant in the board battles, impossible to push off the puck, and I think his fight in the first period really sparked the team.

After watching the "condensed game" on nhl.com, I will quibble with this point. The Stars did have a bevy of high-danger chances.
I just did as well, and you're right -- there were only two or three in the first two periods, but there were several in the third, when I was busier at work and couldn't pay as close attention.
One other thing I didn't catch on first watch: how quick Foligno got right where he needed to be to screen Niemi on the Gagner goal. What a night that guy had.
Mark my words. Someday, the day will come, when someone on these boards asks "Who did we have to trade to get Seth Jones, anyway?"

What's your favorite kind of cookie? I'm going to the store after work.
