Can we call Foligno one of the amigos too? Goal + Fight + drawn multiple penalties (including game tier).

How many times this year has he drawn multiple penalties? If your powerplay is clicking at 50% then every couple of those is a goal.

I checked and the only site that provides those penalty-drawn stats is behindthenet, and they haven't put out anything this year. In the past Foligno and Saad are among the best at drawing penalties, often showing up near tops in the league.

2 points and I'm happy. But it was a **** game.

Murray looked slow and rusty. Calvert, Karlsson and Anderson all had one of their weaker games. But that's all transitory I'm sure.

The big deal is that Dubinsky and Jenner still suck. A lot. Wtf happened to those guys? Even Jenner's hits are looking weaker. I wouldn't be surprised if ends up traded. He just might not have a fit with where the team is going. Dubinsky I'm sure is declining physically a bit, but he also can't make a simple play. I think it's got to be mostly mental - "squeezing the stick" and so on. A guy can't lose that much skill that quickly.

NOW THAT WAS A HOCKEY GAME!

We looked terrible for the first period, but Bob kept us in it. Foligno's fight seemed to energize him. Thought for sure Karlsson was going to score on that end to end in the 3rd.

This is a young team, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they respond well to crowd support.

Let's give it a bit of time. He'll find his way.

I thought Karlsson looked ok. Nothing much statwise but he played hard and had some opportunities.

Agree about the rest. Jenner just looks weak, I don't understand what happened to him.

You're right, I shouldn't have included Karlsson in that group. He had a lot of jump and a very nice looking rush. And I think I remember him and Atkinson making some scoring chances earlier in the game.

Bob gets a lot of the credit for tonight, obviously, but he's not as sharp as he is without a really good night for the D crew, especially, wait for it... Jones and Werenski. The Stars, despite dominating possession and offensive zone time (from the eye test at least), weren't getting a ton of great scoring chances. They were firing unscreened shots from outside all night and not getting any rebounds. Bob was great, but his defense made it easier for him than what we saw last year.

The other guy who deserves a ton of credit is Foligno. He was a force out there all night. The only times the Jackets could get something going in the offensive zone all night it seemed like were when 71 was out there. He was dominant in the board battles, impossible to push off the puck, and I think his fight in the first period really sparked the team.

After watching the "condensed game" on nhl.com, I will quibble with this point. The Stars did have a bevy of high-danger chances.

All of that - except for the ton of scoring chances (they had them). Foligno acted like a REAL captain tonight. I was impressed.

Mark my words. Someday, the day will come, when someone on these boards asks "Who did we have to trade to get Seth Jones, anyway?"

I just did as well, and you're right -- there were only two or three in the first two periods, but there were several in the third, when I was busier at work and couldn't pay as close attention.

One other thing I didn't catch on first watch: how quick Foligno got right where he needed to be to screen Niemi on the Gagner goal. What a night that guy had.

And this coming after the San Jose game, when he had primary assists on back-to-back-to-back shifts, an incredibly rare feat.

Thoughts on the game as I have gotten back after attending in person..
1. I seen a couple people say that Bob allowed a couple soft goals, but I really didn't think so to be honest. The first one was a pure rocket off Spezza during or near a power play where they had a quick rush and he sniped it pretty much off the top bar and in. Second goal, I'm not sure how it went in even after replays.. Bob was hugging that end bar and it just seemed to barely sneak by, where I didn't see how it did. Bob stopped 36 of 38 including several really good changes, deserves the 1st star. Bob kept us in it in my honest opinion.

2. Seth Jones and Zach Werenski looks like a legit 1st pairing D-man corps. Jones has really improved defensively and is physical as well. Glad to see Jones get the OT goal as well.

3. Hoping Jenner and Dubi get going sometime

4. Great way to find 2 points..

First thing I noticed watching the replays, Wennberg was on the ice for every single jackets goal and was usually screening or right in the middle of the play.

2 pts for Werenski and Saad. 1 pt for Wennberg, Atkinson Foligno and Jones

Wait ....... hold on .............

Are you saying ......... I don't want to put words in your mouth, but......

Could this actually be twisted to mean that the guy that negotiated and executed that deal might have, possibly did, something......I dunno know ......good??

Nice win last night. Normally that game goes against the Jackets. Foligno was the spark, from his fight going forward. Team definitely responded, or somehow got their legs after that.

Bob is starting this season on a roll reversal from last, great to see.

The crowd last night may have been the smallest I have ever seen at CBJ game. I know- win and they will come.

The Werenski-Jones pairing is refreshing to watch after so many years of so so dmen in the system.

Nobody would have predicted us to be 4-3-1 at this point. It's nice to be playing meaningful hockey in November.

Anybody else watch Torts' post-game interview? He did not hold back on criticizing the team's start to the game.
