I must've heard BA say he doesn't expect making the playoffs yet, this season, half a dozen times in interviews. Says the team just isn't there yet. (I don't like the players hearing him talk like that.) Pretty sure those are the expectations he set with Smith too. He expects us to be fighting for a wildcard spot which is a bit frustrating because he's repeating the same things he said last season.

For now Smith seems to be letting BA's plan unfold without much interference, if any.

Well I doubt Utah’s population is made up of a bunch of Jakeys so I’m sure they’re safe for now.
Of course they are. Let's see how the year plays out.

I heard that as well. Fighting for a wildcard would be great, but I never heard him say that last year.

I still say we don't make playoffs this year BA is fired.
I doubt that very much.

We've had 3 key veteran players out due to injury and haven't even seen the roster BA built for this season yet and unfortunately won't for most of it.

BA will be back next season, IMO. The roster is too young and inexperienced without them in the lineup. We were counting on these vets to balance things out.

Well we had a 14 game losing streak last year

His method seems to be “ we worked hard , proud that the team showed no quit”

Inside his head it’s “ I sure hope we can win this one”

Cooley is my favourite player but I hate to say it he needs to be benched .. he gets creamed every time he has the puck he makes all of these little plays that if they work are highlight reel but mostly just ends up a giveaway ( kind of like the Mike Smith forward version)

I like Gunther but he needs a day off to sit in front of the TV and watch himself and refocus ..
I would prefer on the PP they try Gunther in the slot , Schmalz to the right and Keller to the left just to change it up.. keep Jayton down behind the goal line

Doan I will say seems to be the only guy that gets the puck in deep , not causing a turnovver

Everyone else tries to pull up at the blue line and gives it away causing an odd man rush

Oh and how fast did Maccelli and Crouse team up for a goal once they were put together

To sum up your review of the kids, they all need some seasoning...perhaps a couple of seasons worth.

BA has a big checkbook - money and picks; time to get a real good goalie. If they traded Keller to do so, I think I’d be ok ( this is hyperbole on my part… but maybe you get the point). However, BA’s plan might not call for this - at this point

There isn't a goalie I would trade Keller for!
Maybe the Dominator in his hey day... but no one present.

Not many goalies better than Ingram are available. May be binnington could be obtained since hofer is just too good to be a back up

You would be surprised what unhappy fans can do. Owners can get impatient fast. Don't forget, BA and AT are not Smith's guys.
LOL Nearly all the folks you’re preaching to on this forum, in this thread are not in market.

Funny thing is…. He’s right.

Everyone wants honesty, until they get it.

I think if one of Durzi or Marino were short term injuries then they might weather the storm. With both out for months the team cant sit on the roster rotating in rookies and 6th/7th D.

MAYBE Kesselring rises to the occasion and Maveric earns regular minutes...but they need to prove it fast.

With Bjugstad returning hopefully the center ice is stabilized a bit.

If they are going to experiment with the young guns and juggle the lines I want to see Cooley get time with Keller. Hayton is NOT the answer there.

As an Avs fan, I swear I’m not biased. I actually think Binner’s pretty consistently good. The team in St. Louis apparently embraces him, though he’s known for an outsized personality. You’d have to wonder about how he might/might not gel in the locker room.

This team in St. Louis is not winning anytime soon. They should try and sell him while he is still good if he has value on the trade market . Hofer has shown he is their future . To me , he is a sure bet

I don’t disagree about St.Louis’ interests, but I am reluctant to think that Binner just makes a smooth transition into a team like the UHC.
