There’s no way they put ZAR back in the lineup is there? Lalonde can’t be THAT bad of a coach can he?

Why wait to see if Lalonde can b competent? I’m done with him, move on. He’s shown nothing that impressed me.
Not disagreeing with you, but traditionally the coach doesn’t get canned at this point of his tenure, unless the end of year interviews with the players and GM are really unfavourable for the coach.

Have to remember, at the start of the season, this teams goal was to compete for a playoff spot right up until the last day of the season. So far they are still on pace for that.

It is a shame because they should have clinched a spot a few months ago already, but for a handful of reasons (yes I agree coaching is the major one) they managed to fumble away the playoff position.

Luckily for this team, they play Montreal back to back to finish the season.

I'd rather see them lose the 3 remaining games with the hope that we drop a few spots in the draft.

In the NHL, coaches get canned on a regular basis, I don't see any reason Lalonde is expected to get a third season.

I wasn't impressed last year but was willing to see it out. This season, I've gone from questioning to hating. His comments about expectations in the past few weeks and as of yesterday (I believe) that there are no expectations of playoffs next season....he's out.

This is exactly what i expected from Lalonde. This organization just provides excuses not solutions. Most important game in almost a decade and we ice Czarnik and ZAR.

I know Yzerman is taking his time on the rebuild but it's really disappointing how he left this team out to dry.

Well... I missed this one, flying back from Dallas, but it sounds like I would have been ripping my hair out. But I'm unsurprised to hear that Pittsburgh got the breaks, again, or that Kane was a useless floater, again. Anyone have the team's record this season with and without him? I suspect that particular split is UGLY.

The eclipse was cool at least :(

Another game where Wings were clearly better, but Goaltending did blew this out.

Last 2 games have been best Red Wings hockey at this season.

Yzerman isn't rebuilding anymore. This was a team built to get to the playoffs this season. Yzerplan has failed and it might be time to start looking at other options.

Hard to blame this on Lyon when we let Jeff friggin Carter outskate us and the other team had Ned...

(Lyon wasn't good but this was a team chokeage)

Team did play well.

DET xGoals 3.50 - they score 5 goals
PIT xGoals 2.58 - they score 6 goals
(xG from natural stat trick)

When you are scored 6 goals against with 2.58 xGoals, the goalie was not good, especially when you did see with your own eyes how many of those were easy direct shots, without a screen.

It's what happened.
