Exactly. And like I said, I don't think home ice means much in a Devils/Rangers series, considering they are just across the river and the arenas are likely to be a somewhat even split for fans anyway. If it was something like NYR/PIT, NYR/WAS, NYR/CAR, then yeah distance and travel matters.

To be honest, it should've been a 5. A spear should always be a 5, and it's pathetic that the NHL officials usually like to call them slashes in order to just give 2 mins. I would like the IIHF approach on spearing, it's 2+10 for just an attempt, no contact. And a match penalty for any type of spear. Using your stick as a weapon is a no-go.
