Post-Game Talk: GAME 79 - BRUINS 7 Newark 2

I may be wrong here, having only seen Lysell in a few games, but I get the sense that he is the typical young player who excelled at lower levels due to his skill and speed, and now that he's in the Bigs, he has to learn that skill and speed alone will not be sufficient to have a successful NHL career. You need perseverance, doggedness on the puck, and 2nd and 3rd efforts. Thankfully, these are all things one can learn and adapt to. Hopefully he will.

I think if he plays like he did last night, RW3 would be his spot to lose.

RW3… after Marner at RW2, of course. :)

Why do we need to turn Lysell into someone who grinds it along the boards? How about going and beating people and putting them on their heels like last night?
Because the game is played on the wall more often then not? I am not looking for him to be exceptional at it, but maybe not try to finesse his way out of it all the time? Perhaps he can just stand between the dots and wait for someone to pass him the puck?

A significant part of the sport is played on the wall. If you completely suck at winning board battles you will be chasing the puck the majority of the game which does nothing for your skills advantage. Its the reason you hate Mittelstadt.
Constructive criticism is frowned upon in these parts!

Actually criticism of any sort is a crime against humanity!

Better than the Leafs, Canucks, Flames, Rangers, Blues, Flyers and Sabres
last 55 years. 😁
Every coach will tell you that you need to win the board battles, now the problem with the Bruins is they need players to win board battles that have skill, that is a different player than what we are used to watching.

I doubt they will sit players. :dunno:

Probably 7th player award tomorrow and the other awards on the last game.
No they won’t. Teams wont purposely lose so I expect the same line up. They are just so close to a top 5 pick and I want something worth sitting through a miserable season for.

There has been some encouraging young players over the last few games.

Many of the Bs best players we not in the top 10 picks :dunno:

Yea but, we need some now, just the way the sport works now unfortunately

The bruins have 2 more cups between 2011 and 2023 if they hit on just one of those bad reach picks or didn’t f*** up the one top 2 pick they had within that time frame

They are ok. I don’t expect top line talent out of the current mix of prospects though and they need that desperately. I have my eye on a few guys (yeah sounds bad) and the closer to the top the more likely it’s an elite player and someone that will help sooner rather than later. Yeah could they get that later in the draft, sure. I still rather draft as high as possible regardless
